Halo 3 graphics to improve, says Bungie | GamesRadar+
History repeating itself. Turned out an amazing game in the end didn’t it
What a relic from the past damn

Yet Halo 3 is one of the best (if not the best) entries to the series.
I have a feeling people are going to feel the same about Infinite when it releases…
This was pretty cool, although I must admit got excited for the September launch, then sad when I realized it was Halo 3 haha.
Also this just further proves that this happens with every game. Lol
Got me for a second, ha. Actually, whatever happened to Frank O’Conner? I stopped following Halo News for the last few years (mainly because I was so focused on Destiny 1 & 2 the whole time). Now I’m back and want to catch up with everything related to Halo.
I feel like if 343 has proved 1 thing with H4 and H5 that mostly everyone agrees on, it’s that the games look absolutely gorgeous. How are people concerned 343 can’t get the graphics to a good place…

Yes and I think infinite will be amazing too.
Fact of the matter is visuals are one of the more simple thing to fix in a game. If that’s the primary criticism of the demo so far then I figure there is a lot to hope for.
Here comes history yet again to whip out some truths. Thank you for this post OP, because some people tend to forget BUNGIE had their flaws as well.
In truth, Infinite is shaping up to be beautiful IMO and i can’t wait to see the final result, be it as is now or improved!
Halo has a future, and we judge its well being differently but in the end, the franchises goal is to survive and evolve.

Fair point, and graphics is definitely the main issue. The gameplay (aside from grappling hook) looks fun. Grappleshot is…well, a lot of people don’t want to see it in Halo. Like, why would you not use a jetpack instead as a pickup/attachment? A jetpack was used before in Halo, it was cool, and it gets you from A to B up to elevation/verticality. A grappling hook gets you from A to B except less space-Marine-ish and high-tech IMO

But Infinite looks worse than Halo 3. Just look at the Phantom compared to previous games and obviously Craig. No blood splats. This is not a valid argument.
Thank you. I cant find examples but I remember back before Halo 2 launched, people were complaining that it looked too colorful and “clown like”. And most of the art style complaints remind me of exactly that. I had to rewatch the trailer multiple times and have youtube videos point out all of the flaws before I actually noticed anything.

I think the high-techness is up to personal opinion, I feel like Titanfall is an example of having a grappling hook seem high tech.
In regards to “why not a jetpack?” I assume that comes down to sandbox balance. I know several people complained more about jetpack than Sprint in Reach because it was very imbalanced in regards to the rest of the sandbox. Now, we have yet to see how grappleshot will be balanced within the sandbox, but I would assume it fits better than a jetpack would.

Jetpacks make map balance nearly impossible, and I hope they never return outside of campaign and curation games again.
I doubt the grapple hook is going to be used very often in multiplayer.
Fair points about jetpack being difficult to balance, but thematically it just seems to fit better IMO. A jet pack could be done with limited fuel, however, sort of how the bubble shield has limited time/use. I also do not think the grappleshot will be used much in multiplayer. I think traditional multiplayer forgers (and myself) are going to avoid it like the plague lol, but who knows. Minigame forgers/alternative forgers could very well love something like that. I also think the grappleshot is getting much more hate because it is shown quite a bit in the limited gameplay we’ve seen thus far. If it is a pickup (thank god its NOT a spartan ability lol), it might not be used all that often, as other pickups will be scattered throughout the campaign map area, which is good.
Post like this gives me hope for Infinite. That backlash kinda bummed me out not going to lie.
Yup. I remember a lot of the exact same complaints about Halo 3’s look. (Looks too shiny, the Spartans look like action figures). Halo 3’s look has aged the best out of all the games in the series, IMO. It’s part of why I was never for a Halo 3 Anniversary, when people started asking about that back in 2017.
I agree Halo 3 was an amazing game. 343 is building Infinite off of what people loved about Halo.
