Frankie and neogaf

It seems the nay Sayers over at neo have finally driven Frankie off, I don’t know if anyone else cares but I just thought I would leave this here.

Damn naysayers.

They have nothing better to do.

I guess not, I’ve been cherry picking his posts from the halo thread on there, and started back tracking through it this am, had to go all the way to yesterday afternoon to find him again and it turned out they ran him off. If he took a break from gaf because of the downers there, I’m suprised looking at the halo 4 forum once hasn’t made him ragequit the project

I’m not sure what’s more amusing, them “driving him off” or their back-handed apologies for having done so.

eg: “sorry man, maybe you shouldn’t have been so sensitive about it.”

Either you’re sorry, or you’re not, but don’t post BS like that.

I could see how it would be frustrating for everyone to analyse(over analyse) everything you wrote every time you write it.

This is good news. Now we wont here complaining every time he posts!

Exactly this. Even in an apology, they’re trying to justify their actions or comments? Man, I don’t get some people.

Well this is rather unfortunate, but I can’t say I blame him. People never treat him with the respect he deserves and are lashing out at him due to not liking Reach, a game made by a different developer. In plus, people are twisting his words to make him and Halo 4 look bad, which isn’t right.

Oh well, we might get less inside looks at Halo 4 now, but at least Frankie will have some peace and quiet.

He is taking a break for now, nothing hugely serious.

There are haters everywhere, Neogaf is nothing special.

LOL Wonder if we will get a shot at running him off now? Forums are a rough place, just the nature of the beast.

I doubt it. If I were Frankie, I definitely wouldn’t want to come on here due to the negativity and bashing about Halo 4 being at an insanely high level.

Frankie hasn’t left, he just isn’t posting… Ala Castiel if you will.

He can’t say what’s he’s said any different least he give spoilers away, or start to sound condescending. He’s not that type of guy… Where I can be goaded into certain situations, Frankie will not, and so effort put into helping others will do more good than trying to appease those that do not won’t to be appeased.

I know =/ its to bad that the official site for Halo seems to be filled with people that publicly crucify the current and impending manifestation on such a regular basis.

I doubt he’ll be popping in here, and I agree, apologies or don’t there’s no half way, the only thing people need to realize is that he posts any info he can out of the goodness of his heart, it’s not like he HAS to tell us jack. He could just as easily clam up and not say a word until November. I feel like people just assumed since he was posting that they could say and act any kind of way and it wouldn’t piss him off.

I’d say it’s more unfortunate than surprising. I mean, Before H2 and H3 dropped, the forums were about the same. Maybe it’s hip to be contrary? I don’t know. I think it’s good he doesn’t come here. “If you spend to much time listening to your critics, you end up siting next to them.”

I agree, even a hopeless lore junkie/fanboy like myself has a hard time staying positive around here, I would hate to see a halo game built solely off of the opinions that fly around the H4 forum

I like that. I also think your right it is easier to find fault than almost anything else in the world. This is not to say we shouldn’t be critical but to be critical just to be critical serves no purpose.

Can’t remember where I heard that one, but it’s always stuck with me. I think a comedian said it. It’s true. Any artist, or person that creates, should do so without having to worry too much about “what will they think”. I think it’s a weird case when it comes to games, or any other art that is for monetary profit. You have to keep the target in mind, but not get too close. Otherwise, you end up with “The Homer”.

> I’d say it’s more unfortunate than surprising.

Fair point, I think my regalement in this detail comes from being a relative newcomer to forums.

> I mean, Before H2 and H3 dropped, the forums were about the same.

Thats what I have been told, even though, I wish I had been able to witness first-hand. Perhaps it is for the best as I imagine a fair amount of fans experienced Haters fatigue and just left. I consider myself to be lucky to be present during the hand-off. Interesting times in the Halo universe to be sure.

> Maybe it’s hip to be contrary?

Defiantly smacks of anti-establishmentism, ironically mixed with the desire to hold on to the established. We are so novel LOL

> I don’t know. I think it’s good he doesn’t come here.

I think a forum appearance occasionally might do wonders for the site, I understand his hesitancy though. Perhaps he does and we are just unaware, I imagine he at minimum peruses on occasion and I would think before Halo 4s release an appearance here in person would be in order.

That is a scary prospect D:

Oh, I agree. Part of me (just theorizing) wonders if it’s because of what he can and cannot talk about. Posting here, he posts as a 343i employee, and is bound by what is slated to be revealed and what is not. Not so much on Gaf. Are there still potential legal issues? Probably. But they also have a pretty good screening process over there, which keeps out a fair amount of people. Halo fans are pretty passionate, and the H4 forum is evidence of that. No matter how much is given, more is needed/wanted. Just look at when Bungie handed over Halo, and had their mega-blowout of swag bags, armor, nameplates, flames, etc. People still weren’t satisfied.
