This event is so frustrating. Setting aside the horrendous progression system that taints this otherwise sublime game, this free event just adds another layer of annoyance. According to their own news post, this event will appear 6 times this season giving you plenty of time to complete it. What absolute horse ####!!! You can only go up 7 tiers per week it’s active. This means you have to play most of those 6 weeks to complete the whole thing. If you can only play 4 of those 6 weeks say, well screw you for having a life you nerd. You don’t get to finish it!!!
The challenges range from super easy to borderline impossible just like the rest of the normal challenges. I currently have a Get a Killjoy Medal challenge. So complete dumb luck then if I get that. Brilliant. A great test of my abilities there! Have they even played that mode. It’s chaos. Getting a killing spree is gunna be rare enough, let alone me having the luck to be the guy who ends it. I’m not gunna play for hours in pursuit of this when I’ll only unlock nothing of value. May have to use a swap for that.
And then the pass is full of challenge swaps and xp gifts which will at least help towards counteracting this garbage progression system but I’ve got to work my way through 20 odd of these before I get to the actual customisation pieces. Why not have all the pieces take up the first 10 tiers and then the rest be full of the boosts and swaps. That way I don’t have to grind this pass for 6 weeks.
Just brain dead game design, one can only assume conceived to frustrate the player into spending money. Whoever greenlit this whole appalling system should hang their head in shame. I adore Halo and 343 but my god this shows breathtaking levels of stupidity. The community is quite rightly outraged.

I’m adding my voice to the pile of complaints. If nothing is done about the monetization model, I’m gonna finish my battle pass and never touch the MP ever again. I have hundreds of hours of playtime between Halo CE and Infinite.
Having to do mental gymnastic in the back of my mind to optimize my xp gains through challenges while I play the game, just to customize my spartan, is what I would expect to do at work.

Playing Fiesta has had the side effect of really showing how lacking the weapon variety is. I mean, I know we can necessarily start off with everything we had from Halo 5, but it’s been lackluster.

Yeah it’s kinda bad. I don’t mind that you can’t level it all the way up; I think it’s kinda cool that it’s a thing you should have to focus on when it’s available, much like Overwatch’s annual events. However, i do hate the challenge system for it and the fact that there are Yoroi items in the shop only is awful. How come we get so much free stuff for MCC and so drastically little in Infinite?
There should always be an event challenge active. I did two challenges and no more would appear. Used three challenge swaps as well.
Not only is getting a killjoy not a challenge (mostly random and amounts to “kill a spartan”), but it actually encourages bad play and game throwing. The only way for me to pursue that challenge is to purposefully die over and over and then hope to kill the guy that I helped get a spree.
What kind of challenge is “Kill the guy that’s been kick your asss all game?”

Very true it isn’t fair on people. Most of the stuff that is good is behind a paywall and unfortunately it probably won’t change. The Facade has fallen and people will hopefully realise that they need to take this problem problem the top or it won’t get recognised. If it was 75% Armour in Battle Pass and 25% shop I would be fine with it but it seems more like 50 50 with how things are going.

Also, how am i supposed to get xp for the event if my challange list is getting filed with regular weekly ones, and i can only do maybe 1 at a time if at all. event challenges need their own separate list, detached from the weeklies.

Seriously, just let me grind the event out. That’s all I want. Now that i’ve finished all my challenges I have no reason to play. The issues I keep getting with hit detection and forced crossplay don’t give me a reason to keep playing.
Are you saying that when you used a double XP boost and completed an event challenge it unlocked 2 event levels instead of just 1? (I was curious how this worked.)

The content control is really bad. Not having things like fiesta in a main playlist, not being able to select what you want to play. Not having an pregame lobby and isolating players. Making the progression seen like it’s going to take years as well. It’s all forced portion control and is a manipulative strategy to make sure we don’t burn out the game too fast and it’s nonsense. This shouldn’t be this way. I’m really hoping it’s all gone after this beta period.
343 doesn’t have to worry about players getting bored of they unlock everything. People won’t stop playing the game because of that. Halo is a bit of a communist country right now.
Nor a post game lobby where you used to be able to stick around and re challenge the same people for some competitive fun. Which again goes down to isolating players like you said.
Maybe it has something to do with the SBMM where they don’t want you controlling who you’re playing with outside of your fireteam.

It’s also tied to an absolutely horrid game mode. I hate every second of fiesta and always hated it in the past. Nothing like spawning with terrible weapons as enemies get rockets and other supers in a consistent rate.

Just imagine that the kill yoroi animation is only found in the store. That would be hilarious and dissapointing at the same time.
Sucks if you don’t enjoy Fiesta too. I played one match, remembered why I dislike it so much, and don’t feel like playing another.
