playing halo 5 after playing any other game now just feels weird because of the awkward fov. I would like to know peoples thoughts on this.
What’s awkward about it? The only time it was strange to me was when I’d play split-screen in Halo 3.
That is correct, but such criticism would mainly be held by PC players who are used to wide field of vision of over 90 or 100 degrees open angle. 90 degrees is actually stanard for most shooters. Nonetheless, for some reason the narrow FOV is typical for console games, shooters in particular. That probably emerges from lower technical possibilities of consoles compared to full blown gaming PCs and narrowing down the FOV helps to reduce impact on graphical processing module - y’know, the less things appear on the screen at once, especially in dynamic flux of change, the less there is to compute. Also console games would oftentimes have slightly compromised quality compared to what one could have on a gaming PC, so that would be another thing to that as well.
