Found out why people hate the boss system...

I finally found out why people hate the boss system. I’m not going to whine about it, but I thought I’d share this clip with you guys.

EDIT: Before the elitists come, I’m not calling for a system change! I just wanted to share this because I understand all those “Change the Boss system” posts.

Lazy Link

That hurt just to watch.

Lmao, id be pissed

I feel your pain bro. Today i was playing on the snow map and the enemy had gotten a hunter down to less than 5% health my team swooped in and killed all the red team and had the hunter cornered in the hanger. I shot a clip into him but the other team was awarded the kill.

I looked around no red team just 4 blues in a hanger where no red could have got a long range shot in, if he got the kill he would have had to of been right next to me.

Did 343 change something up or was it some wierd glitch?

haha

And that is why the boss system is so Broken. you can put in 99% of the damage like you did only for all the points to go to the enemy team. its broken and needs to be fixed.

I think the wraith as a vehicle, is kinda glitched. It has the period where it’s going to explode, but its still “alive”. I’ve gotten credit for “killing” one with a scorpion, while I was shooting at it with a DMR.

I really don’t think it’s broken, it’s how it should be. If you do 99% damage to a spartan and someone else gets the kill should you get the kill or just the assist? you weren’t the one who killed him so you should get the assist.

I don’t think it’s broken in a sense, but I think it was implemented poorly.

I’ve always found tankmaster rok to be weird when it comes to killing him. His death is often a bit random, it isn’t so much of a problem with the other bosses.

Getting the banshee kills is always a case of just getting a railgun and waiting to last hit. Like this.

The boss system as it currently stands is nothing more than an “every dog has his day,” mentality. I have a feeling they weren’t aiming for balance. Rather, they wanted every player to have a chance at saving the day, so to speak. The worst player doesn’t have to be good, he just needs to get lucky. And, theoretically, were he to win the game because of his random AR round, he may feel more inclined to play, more inclined to purchase REQ packs. You see what I am getting at?

There are health systems that have been proposed that are OBJECTIVELY better. They cater to all sides of the argument. A damage-based system that rewards bonus points for the final killshot is one example.

Randomness is a fantastic equalizer, though. And 343 has outright said they do not want higher-skilled players matching with lower-skilled ones. While that in of itself is fair, I assume Warzone itself is crafted for the new guy and an attempt to yank his attention back to Halo.

Just my theory.

Oh but this system “promotes teamwork” right? Right? Yeh…no.

I wonder what those defending this system are going to say about this clip…

That’s quite a solid theory.

I feel halo is slowly moving into the “ego shooter” area. If one player can come in and throw a single shot into the boss, get th kill and the win, that will make them feel good and ‘cool’ as that’s what it seems people play warzone for. Why else would some people do nothing but crutch on REQs on all game? 9 times out of 10 the person who is using the ultra banshee, when they don’t have it they can’t get a single kill or boss kill, most often they sit back at base until they can spawn another one (not saying they are OP, I’m saying people crutch on them). They feel good when they overpower their enemies with vehicles the enemy team is not lucky enough to spawn. What I mean it’s, if both teams had an ultra banshee, the crutching players one would die quick and they would not play warzone as they have no advantage. But when the other team has no similar vehicle, they can feel good about racking up kills–encouraging them to get more packs.

If you let a person with an AR get the boss kill then its partly your fault. There should always be someone there to secure the kill with a high damage dealing powerweapon like rockets or a railgun.

Lol! It works the other way too though. The other day I literally ran across half the map as the enemy were all shooting at Captain Hestro. I fired literally a couple of shots with the BR and was awarded the kill! Legendary boss takedown, and I did sod all. I imagine they would have been annoyed, but what goes around comes around.

I think the video in the OP nullifies your point.

O.o you have got to be kidding me right now!!! Aghuuu!!!
I feel your pain bruv… lol

Warzone bosses go like this:

You’re wandering through the woods with your best rifle when suddenly, you spot a huge 10-point buck just across the ridge. You take aim, careful not to startle the beast. You pull the trigger, and the buck falls. But just before you can approach it, out of nowhere some other hunter runs by and takes the buck, then he disappears out of sight. You did all the hard work, yet that other guy got everything. Because -Yoink- you that’s why.

What happened in that video seemed to be a mixture of Tankmaster Rock and the wraith being generally buggy, and that he shot it when it was literally on no health already.

Whilst it was annoying and there are some bugs that need fixing, current method is good in my opinion. That being it would be nice if they had a rule that if there are two people immediately damaging the boss, the one doing more damage (e.g Laser vs AR) gets the kill.
