Even though FOTUS armor is noncanon so this next question doesn’t really matter but wouldn’t the large horn on the front of the helmet just make for a great grapple point for an enemy to grab and pull you down with?
Umm, the horn is obviously for headbutting enemies.
The horn is used for magic, obviously.
I don’t know anymore.
Since Multiplayer is now canon, you’d think why not give everyone the “best” armor, instead of having them “rank up” for them. It’s makes sense to me to just let a Spartan roam the armory, and come out with what he/she likes.
“You want a helmet with a giant horn? Okay, the lab-coats back home will get right on that. We can make it an antennae or something. Maybe, some kind of node or sensor while traversing space.”

The idea that we are Spartans in a VR combat simulation is canon, but each individual Spartan and the instances such as gameplay, ranking up and other things are not.

“Sir! I am Spartan 123! Ready and able, Sir!”
“Grab some armor and a weapon, and head down to the Holodeck, son!”
“Right, I’ll take this…and this.”
“Whoa! Hold it right there! You’re not GOOD ENOUGH to wear THAT helmet.”
“What?”
“And you CAN’T AFFORD to use THAT weapon.”
“…”
“You can wear this one instead. And here’s two sticks and a rock. Give 'em hell, Spartan.”

Exactly why each Spartan in Halo 4 MP and gameplay etc. is not canon
only the idea that the Spartan VI’s are in VR combat is whats canon.
I mean think about it if EVERYONE’S Spartan was canon then there would be hundreds of thousands of Spartan IV’s running around when in reality(Well canon reality) there is only about 650 Spartan IV’s at most. Would 500,000 spartans even fit on the Infinity? Not even the holodeck but the ENTIRE Infinity.

I was just aiming at the pricy armor, and why you have to work so hard to get it when the UNSC should just hand it out like Mr. Scrooge on christmas morning…
I don’t know how we got to the number of crew members, or the fact that reality in a virtual-Virtual reality isn’t all there. I mean, I know we the fans out number the crew of the UNSC Infinity (a buhgillion to 17000+). If you want…we could have some of the crychambers on the exterior of the ship?
There’s candy inside. From Candy Mountain… Duh. SHUN THE NON BELIEVERS… SHHHHHUUUUUNNNNNNNN- UH

Hmm… I don’t think so actually. When energy shields come into play I think it technically makes grabbing each other a little difficult and it gets kind of slippery.

Speaking completely in military terms here, Soldier’s are allowed, if qualified and trained, to obtain certain weaponry, however, most weapons are based on your skill and combat effectiveness. If your higher in the chain or know the armorer, you get a little more lee-way with that.
But over all, the armory dishes out what your supposed to need for the mission or for the ensuing operation for best combat-effectiveness.
Also, Special Forces get a lot more leeway in weaponry, not much, but enough to get the job done. Since the Spartan IV’s are technically Special Forces(ODST) and so on, they can get different weapons and armor, but to truly get some of the good stuff, they have to move up the chain again.

Exactly! You aren’t buying the armour, you’re gaining experience to be able to utilise it properly. At least that’s how I view it.
The horn is a PEZ dispenser.
has anyone thought that there is a canonical reason for the FOTUS armour?
Its even mentioned in H4. Research Station Trevelyan. the first shield world the UNSC found (not including Apex Site). There was tons of working Forerunner technologies there, and a whole lot of huragok.

Imagine a special FOTUS assassination.

“Also, Don’t forget to SHARE the rock.”
Leave my FOTUS horn alone or I will poke you!
