"But Microsoft had to make sure that the Web series didn’t just appeal to hardcore “Halo” fans.
Playing the games and reading the books or other “Halo” spinoffs is “a big commitment,” O’Connor said. “We needed a way to ensure there was a way for people to get onboard this universe without feeling intimidated.” As a result, the Web series is “an origins story that teaches you about a lot of different facets of the (‘Halo’) universe.”"
This feels like a huge punch in the gut and a hypocritical statement.
“it’s a big commitment, but… We can’t make something that just appeals to you guys who are arguably the bigger fans of the Halo universe! It has to appeal to all the non halo fans!”
Way to be -Yoinks!-. We buy up every piece of fiction and spend 10 years digesting it all and all you can say is “Well , we already have millions and millions of fans. We have to try and attract new people and not make something that is true to the EU material and all the hardcore fans who’ve spent the last 10 years following the Halo universe, so it can be different for whatever reason.”
I seriously hope material from Reach the game isn’t in there and it doesn’t alter events from FoR-GoO using the -Yoink- retcons Bungie tacked on to Reach.
