Doesn’t change the fact that the FUD looks nothing like the Halo 3 version.

If you go to the “Games” button at the top of this site and click “Halo 4” the background image with the Master Chief kneeling and the FuD and Covenant Cruiser above him, the FuD’s “engine wings” look very similar to the MegaBloks one.
Why change the design 343? It doesn’t seem like all that much of a big deal just to keep a previously existing design. I let the Chief’s appearance by, but this is just getting out of hand of you needing to reskin everything.

Agreed. I’m kind of disappointed that they feel so many things need redesigning when they really don’t need touching at all. I think its an ego thing, they want to reboot the franchise and stamp their mark on the franchise, when quite frankly I wish they were able to stand back and respect the franchise.

Of course its too late, this is the first time they are really showing this. So forgive my opinion.

Yeah that’s why it caught me off guard. Clearly 343i know the frigates look a certain way so why go and change the one that CAN’T POSSIBLY BE ALTERED IN TE VACUUM OF SPACE!!!
I hope they give an actual reason in game for this and not just the “artistic liberties” excuse.
Well as a frigate builder, I can say that it looks like the MAC section of the frigate, the two side bulkheads are missing and the bottom section too. The hangar seems to not be very present and be wings external armour are probably destroyed somehow.
Maybe after Halo 3 the UNSC took the front half of FUD and rebuilt it using the new technology discovered on Onyx. It looks cool, but not like a frigate should. I’d like to have it just so I can add to it to make it right.

It is without a doubt artistic liberties. Just look at all the other stuff that is changing without explanation to see that.
You’ve got a good point though. I think its bizarre to redesign the Forward Unto Dawn when we won’t see it as a whole in Halo 4 unless they do the unthinkable; have an intro that shows the end of Halo 3 but reimagined with the new Chief and the new Forward Unto Dawn.
Just imagine that happening… that would be one hell of a slap in the face to Bungie (and us fans of Halo).

Maybe they thought the Frigates all look too much alike to they redesigned the Class? Personally I think it was unnecessary. I mean when the made the first Star Trek movie back in the 1970s they at least worked into the plot why she looked completely different from the one seen in the show.
On the multiplayer level Adrift there is a Frigate docked to the freighter. I wonder if that is the same class as the FUD. If it is it would give us a good look at this new Class’s design. Well, whenever we get to play it anyways.
Asuming that this model was made from what the Dawn will look like in-game;you have to remember that EVERYTHING is getting a complete overhaul in looks.But if not then it`s probably just the back half of the ship.And yes that IS the Forward Unto Dawn.

343 changed the design, not Mega Bloks. That’s what the Dawn will look like in Halo 4.
Seeing as we don’t see the front half, my guess is that all the new UNSC Frigates look like that, so instead of having an old and new version of the UNSC Frigate in the game, 343 just used the new version for the Forward Unto Dawn.
Honestly, I will be extremely depressed if they re-design the frigate. Frigates were, to me, the coolest looking ships I’ve ever seen.
