So im a huge nerd and lovve the halo mega bloks. especially the big sets. However i was a little surprised to see the Forward unto Dawn set. A couple questions and issues came to mind. First of all, its most definitley not to scale with the actual ship, seeing as the cryo chamber can only fit the chiefs cryo tube. Im sure there was a few more tubes in the original chamber.
Secondly, the full size model looks nothing like the orignal from the halo 3 ending. im assuming this is the design they took for Halo 4, so it makes me sad that they are comepletly redesigning the whole look of halos battle cruisers. It takes away from the continuity for me, and makes me wonder what other changes they made.

I agree. It is a shame that they redesigned the Forward Unto Dawn because;
- It makes no sense
- The old design looks a lot better
- It was not necessary
- The new design looks dull and lacks character
- It makes no sense

Thanks, i knew i couldnt be the only one. I like the original design and see no reason to fix what isnt broken.
I really hope they put in a throw a way line where you learn that Cortana attempted to restore operational status to the ship in the 5 years since Halo 3. Perhaps there are some repair drones or something like that. It doesn’t seem reasonable that an AI, who can make thousands of calculations in an instant, wouldn’t want to do anything like this while desperately waiting for a slim chance of rescue.

It splits in two, the canon section looks good enough, they didn’t add the whole front on halo 4, they just added it in the megabloks, even though it splits.
The Mega Bloks set is not their own design, but rather taken from 343’s new model of the ship.
Of course it’s not to scale. There is no way it could be and still be affordable at retail. If the ship were to scale with the mini-figures it would be around 44-45 feet long. Again, no way that would be possible and still affordable. As it is the set coming out will already be a $250 set and that’s only about 3ft long. A ship 45ft long would be several thousands of dollars…
So some exceptions had to be made. You can choose to display it closed so as to not show the inside playable area, or show it with the top of the hull off to show the playset portion. It’s your choice.
Heck, be glad that you even have that option. Some big building block sets don’t do this.
I am in agreement that I think the traditional UNSC Frigate design should have carried over and therefore been made as a toy.
However, we all know by now that 343 wants to make Halo their own and have chosen to make design changes to many things in Halo. While I’ll miss seeing the old design, I like many of you will grow to appreciate the new designs just as much.
It was funny though when this set was announce and images first leaked. There were all kinds of guesses as to what ship exactly that is was. Some thought the Infinity, some though the Spirit of Fire. Other thought an all new ship, but not the Forward Unto Dawn as it didn’t look anything like the classic version.
I figured it out when I saw the avatar prop add-on on LIVE and it looked like this toy.
