It has to be Reach, it only makes sense by the halo timeline.
During the Fall of Reach, Master Chief stayed on Reach.
Now, what do we know about the planet Reach? It’s the UNSC’s major military headquarters, and i’m sure that they’re military academy’s on Reach somewhere. It makes sense that this is where the setting is in Forward Unto Dawn.
The only thing that I don’t get is why are they surprised when the covenant show up? It’s been a good couple of years since Harvest (the first contact with the covenant) and you would think that the cadets have atleast heard about them by now.

I dont know the location but its definitelly not Reach. This story takes place about 20 years before the Fall of Reach, in times of first contact with the Covenant.
It takes many months for the UNSC to learn about the Covenant, and many more to respond to the threat.
Besides, the population would go insane if ONI came out and told them aliens were invading. The military kept it secret for a while, possible a few years, while they tried to contain and stop the threat. These cadets were training for the Insurrection, not aliens. They hadn’t beeen informed of an alien threat.
Oh, and Reach is attacked in 2552. This takes place more thsn 20 years earlier. It is definetly not Reach.
Not Earth, Not Reach and not Harvest. The Covenant finds Earth during Halo 2, Master Chief was never on Harvest I believe and The Fall of Reach happend just before Halo 1, not long enough time has passed for Lasky to become an “old” man. This takes place about 30 years before Halo: CE, they said so in the latest bulletin.
Probably a planet from the Outer colonys. Cant wait to find out. BTW the Warthog looks frikkin awesome in the trailer, want one =)
The Covenant attacked Reach about 20 years after the Covenant first attacked, so it’s definitely not Reach. This probably happens within the first 3 months or so after first contact.
