Parts 3-5 of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn have been removed today on MachinimaPrime. You can still watch the first two episodes of Forward Unto Dawn as of right now, but not the last three. How do you feel about this? This is how I feel (note: I am a Limited Edition buyer)
Why I like 343’s decision to remove Episodes 3-5:
-343 never announced that Forward Unto Dawn would be on the internet forever. Forward Unto Dawn was already free to watch, and most people who wanted to watch it already have.
-Boosts up DVD/Blu-Ray/Xbox Marketplace sales of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, which will come out in early December.
-Limited Edition buyers were kind of ripped off by the LE. Since LE buyers can still watch ALL OF Forward Unto Dawn, 343 has made an excellent move to satisfy LE buyers a bit more.
Why I don’t like 343’s decision to remove Episodes 3-5:
-A lot of people are gonna be angry and still want to be able to watch Forward Unto Dawn without having to pay
-Limited Edition buyers were not given the special content of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, as promised. Instead, this special content will most likely be included in the DVD and Blu-Ray of Forward Unto Dawn along with possibly a few in-game bonuses, heavily encouraging Limited Edition buyers to purchase Forward Unto Dawn on the Marketplace/DVD/Blu-Ray. Two words; marketing scheme
I don’t know why I thought it would include a DVD of FUD.
Unrelated note: I thought I heard a few times that the LE would come with the premium soundtrack to the game, as well. Instead, I had to pay an extra $20 for that crap, too.
That brings a bit of value back to the LE, getting the full FUD movie and bonus stuff.
Some will be a bit mad of course. There will likely be options in the future, though.
Did they say something about a disc for FUD later, like it’ll actually be sold as a movie?

I know right, it sucks eh?
I thought that the DVD of Forward Unto Dawn and the soundtrack would be included too, but I found that out before I ordered my LE. I have no right to get mad at 343 because they never said that any of that would be included with the Limited Edition.
No soundtrack? No DVD of Forward Unto Dawn?
Fine, 343.
But 343 didn’t give Limited Edition buyers this when they said they would (This is illegal. False advertising!):
■The 90-minute extended edition of the ViDoc, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn
■Bonus in-fiction content providing backstory on characters and stories in Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn
Well, as you can see, If you post something on youtube, it is downloadable, whether from a browser addon or a website, such as keepvid. this means if they left FUD on youtube, people would just keep watching it as is and not pay, or download the vids and not pay. So, it is a smart idea to remove the vids, but from the time of release till the time they have been removed, the FUD episodes would of have been downloaded many times, so it would have been smarted if they hosted it on a seperate site, so downloads wont occur.
I’m actually quite happy they they removed it as it make me feel that me LE is worth more now.
Today was the first time my friend had to finally be able to watch it, and they take it off. Bad timing for some people, he’s mad about that. I think it’s a bit a bit tasteless that they did it right after Thanksgiving, and even more so that they didn’t announce it at all anywhere that I can find on this website. No warning, no notification.
The idea of it being taken off is fine given a DVD launch, but the execution was inconsiderate and will be infuriating to some people.

Hey JSA343, I haven’t seen you on the forums in a while
But yes, Forward Unto Dawn is actually being sold as a movie. I have the Halo 4 Prima Games Official Game Guide and there’s an advertisement at the very back pages that states that a DVD and Blu-Ray will be out on December 4.
