Forums Closing Down, Farewell Everyone

But I thought Season 3 was suppose to be the “biggest update” for multiplayer? Does 343 have no confidence in their own work? They accepted defeat and closed the forums down without even trying Season 3 out. They must know that Infinite isn’t going to get any better or something.

Also, good luck putting in support tickets to chat robots who rarely know how to fix your issues.

Good bye Halo way point even if we didn’t get along I will miss you all.
Halo fans never die. They’re just missing in action.

This is some really sudden news. I joined the forums only a few weeks ago, but man, it was genuinely fun debating with others late into the night. I’ll dearly miss this place.

Yet again another case of 343i proving just how out of touch they are. I hope to see some of you on the Discord.

Thank you for the memories, everyone. See ya on the flip side.

Too much negative comments on the forums so they are going full nuclear by shutting it all down.

Yes, it’s very sad seeing this place shut down. The discord is full of quick one line comments that soon get pushed off the screen with no opportunity for actual ongoing conversations between many users like you get on a forum.

Sad days indeed although I can’t say I’m surprised. There’s very little activity on here and it’s been that way for a while.

Only 2 problems.

One. Reddit doesn’t look like a lot of fun.

Two. My only defence of matchmaking had really been the low population. Not a lot of mirth in that.

I just don’t feel like 343 are acknowledging that the reason the Waypoint forums haven’t been successful is because they haven’t encouraged feedback and discussion on the site. If you want to be heard you’re forced to visit other sites because 343 don’t pay attention enough to their own “main” site.
There should have been more effort. But done is done.

I’ve had some great discussions on here, especially before the switch to discourse and the release of Infinite.
I don’t use twitter or reddit, and there is barely any Halo-content on youtube that interest me since Infinite.
So idk if I’ll just fall out of the Halo community without waypoint. But that might be ok at this point.

Thx for the chats folks!

Reddit is trash for FPS games.

Fixed that for you ^^
Generally if it’s a game community and it’s not some smaller/non-AAA game it’s just a cesspool. Actually just most big subreddits in general aren’t great places to be in.

This is probably part of some stupid cost cutting operation lead by corporate, another consequence of the recent Microsoft’s decisions…

This is too bad, I had many great and interesting conversations that couldn’t happen on Twitter or on Discord, a forum is a great mean of communication and it is sad to see them all go one by one in favor of some generic social media spaces that are usually pretty toxic…

The internet space has been mutating in something pretty gloomy in the recent years, social medias are creating toxic hiveminds that just fight at each other, forums are less prone to this recent degeneracy, seeing them close means the degeneracy is winning…

Some of this feels like old person mentality. Discord is much more than y’all might think.

It’s still not a better place for discussions, though. They aren’t coherent or easy to refer to either on that application.

Oof the double standard on the discord be real

When someone is told “we’re abandoning x to go to y” they expect Y to be an improvement.

The discord is a sidegrade at best

It totally is but it doesn’t mean we are wrong either. I’m not sure you can make a strong argument that modern communication and social media are better than older methods. Is it more accessible and quicker, absolutely. Does it facilitate meaningful discussion or promote respect of other people and their viewpoints. I’d say it’s a massive step back in those regards.

The hope that Discord somehow bucks that trend seems unlikely to me but after the discussion in this thread I am prepared to give it a try.
