I havent been on the forums for too long but that’s what makes it sad for me
Farewell everyone

@SQUiB_2154 and @General_Fox
There is a section that says “Halo Infinite” with a symbol that look like two overlapping text bubbles. It didn’t look very active, though.
I’d rather stay away from Reddit, Twitter, and Discord for the more lengthy and comprehensive write-ups.
Twitter is a cesspool, Reddit is Reddit, and Discord really isn’t built with something like this in mind.
Basically, any discussion worth its nuance involving the topic of Halo dies with this.
Eh. This sucks but it seems like 343 doesnt read much here anyway so we’re just chatting amongst ourselves mostly.
I think this announcement and Ske7ch comments in another thread proves that is the case. Even if they weren’t going to listen much I’d rather they left the forums to debate amongst ourselves.
Obviously I’d rather they monitored it more or had a system where the ‘Monitors’ brought things to their attention.
I don’t really understand discord and there’s no rational sense elsewhere… all my friends stopped playing this game years ago.
Last nail in the coffin.
RIP
Happy gaming folkes - have fun and smile!
Well if you ever see me in Matchmaking in either MCC or Infinite message me saying Hi, see y’all from on other side
Guess they don’t care about discussion and feedback.
Reddit is impossible to have any sort of discussion on on any videogame-related board. It’s just an echo chamber and if you say anything that’s “against the hivemind” you just anger the mob. Basically anything game related they ever talk about there is cosmetics and desync, while some memes here and there gather a bunch of traction.
Discord is a great application, but it’s meant for chatting. I’m in some public Discords and they’ve never really liked using threads. It has a tiny pop-out box in which you can look for threads, like a search engine for a forum, but it’s difficult to get a proper overview of all the threads.
@BlueDevistator mentioned the section with chat bubbles. It has a more conventional thread layout.
It could be nurtured into a new home if enough of us drifted in that general direction.
Doesn’t seem to have any threads on Ranking or SBMM though ![]()
There is a playable Elite one though!
Seems that way, I didn’t know this existed aside from the aforementioned thread system. That’s way better.
Still not a huge fan as Discord is a big chat/social media app and will attract a very different minded crowd with different intentions. People going out of their way to talk on a discussion forum is different from people finding out their Whatsapp gaming group they memepost on has a discussion board.
Isn’t that the truth. It’s why I can’t see myself making the jump across but I’ll at least have a look at some point and either confirm my suspicions or be pleasantly surprised.
This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.
This place died when it downgraded into an endless scroller.
Goodbye everyone, take care!!! ![]()
Well I feel like most of the people here.
I really enjoyed reading and learning stuff here.
I don’t have any Reddit/Twitter/insta/tiktok account and I don’t want it at all.
I had to go to discord to play with some friends and I didn’t really like it so I guess it will definitely stop my contribution to the community like a lot of spartans here.
It’s quite sad because there was at lot of very interesting people…
Hope your journey continue in season 3 and even further and beyond ![]()
I feel like 343 always treated the Halo forums as an afterthought, maybe a nuisance even. They rarely post or interact with the community here as opposed to Reddit.
It’s a damn shame too because in the 8 or so years that I’ve visited these forums, I’ve seen discussions and ideas from people that, if 343 listened to them, could’ve transformed this franchise.
The very nature of social media platforms don’t allow for discussions like these. Maybe that’s just what 343 wants.
Well this is sad. This has been the best place to discuss Halo for me. But it is not that surprising they are shutting it down. I think it drove away a lot of people after they changed everything. Not to mention it seems most at 343 ignore the “official place for Halo” because they seem to post stuff other places like Twitter before posting here (or not even posting here). Shutting down waypoint maybe the first real sign the Halo series is done. They maybe getting to a support for the games until they can turn everything off. Taking Halo to "live service* and slip space engine being a pretty terrible one just may have finished off what was an awesome franchise. Wish I could get into another franchise like I did Halo but this maybe the end of an era. Halo has been with me since 2003… But sadly all good things must come to an end.
Well, this ends the final line of communication I cared to keep with Halo, I see reason to shift to other platforms where you’re guaranteed to have your voice buried
People now truly don’t understand how great forums can be
Forums > new social media
Its been fun everyone
I remember back before the launch of H5 I was able to gift out a couple copies of the game to a couple spartans who wanted to play but couldn’t, and then over the course of the first 6 months of H5 gave away heaps of codes for cosmetics.
For me, being able to help the community in that way will always be my favorite memory of this place
