We pushed out a small forum update yesterday afternoon. Apologies for the lack of warning about the downtime. We weren’t expecting it, but then it was easier to do the maintenance and work, so we kept them down until everything was completed.
One of the primary visible updates is new private message settings. Now, by clicking My Profile and then Private Message Preferences, you can adjust who is allowed to send you messages. Please note that if you plan on updating your preferences to only receive private messages from buddies, we recommend adding all the moderators. They send messages about forum-related things (not always warnings, but sometimes helpful hints when you post in the wrong section and whatnot). Also note if you don’t add the moderators, you are still responsible for knowing and following the forum rules and guidelines, and you can still be temporarily and permanently banned, even if you can’t get their warnings.
We also did some minor formatting changes and some other behind-the-scenes work. One of the things I now have is the ability to upload more avatars, so be on the lookout for some new selections within the next handful of weeks.

I think we’ll always be collecting avatars. I don’t see any reason we can’t add batches here and there on a regular basis. Unless my devs tell me I’ve officially maxed out the allotted space for them, anyway!

No news on the forum ranks, and this one is completely on me. I haven’t asked for a fix on it, because it doesn’t affect anything beyond the cosmetics of the ranks. Since people are still able to post and participate just fine, I have chosen to not prioritize it at this time. Hope that makes sense.

Does that mean that there is a possibility of one of my squishy avatars being an actual avatar … hopefully… (Though I have a feeling “don’t count on it” is more accurate :P)
