Forum issues.

I was in the middle of gathering notes while in the middle of posting something when a message box pops up asking something about leaving the page. I clicked “stay on page.” It happened again right at the moment I was typing something, and apparently it considered my keystrokes as a click for “leave page.” I lost nearly 20 minutes worth of progress (it was a long-ish post). What could be causing this? I’d rather not have to open Notepad whenever I want to post something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried NoScripts (Firefox add-on) or NotScripts for Chrome OS? That’s what I used during the Forum Beta.

Of course, it will remove the functionality of the font options as well as the buttons above them, but you should still be able to preview and post.

Also, you could use Wordpad.

I usually copy whatever I’ve typed to my clipboard before I click Reply. That way, if my post doesn’t show up initially, or upon a refresh, I can simply paste in what I already had typed.

They are aware of this, and are currently working on a fix though!

Oh, yes, I hate that bug! What’s even worse is that nine times out of ten, even if you always click “Stay on Page”, when you submit your post, you’ll just find yourself at the reply form with your text gone (and the quoted post present, if you’d clicked “Quote”) – as if you’d never touched it

They are?

Horrible session time-out issues. I hope it can be resolved. I always [ctrl-A,ctrl-C] before I submit a post.

I’ve found when using a Google Chrome browser, if the message disappears, pressing the back button returns me to the message I was typing. Does this also happen with IE and Firefox or is it a blank (or quoted message) form?

i’ve gotten that before. for some reason, even if i click leave page, it doesnt do anything.

For Firefox, in any situation where you submit a Waypoint post and encounter an error message or a reset form, clicking “Back” only takes you to the reply form with all of your changes gone.

Well my advice would be to use a word document and then paste it on the forums on those long posts.

I thought I read it somewhere that they were, but it may be the fact that it’s finals week for me and my brain just isn’t functioning properly at the moment >.>

But, back on topic: My recommendation is to simply copy your text before posting!
