Just throwing an idea out there. When you capture a power node one or two mini build slots appear next to it. Giving the option to build some sort of defence. Maybe a mini turret or a garrison bunker.
And then UNSC wins everything because their turrets eat everything, great idea!

Well they wouldn’t be the base turrets, that would be too powerful. They would be a new design (smaller/less powerful) specifically to defend the nodes so they wouldn’t vary based on faction. Strictly for nodes.
At least in skirmish fun, I use Johnson’s bunkers in this role. Throw some upgraded marines in there, it’s pretty awesome.

What about instead of actual turrets, how about some type of fairly potent guardian sentinels?
or taking it one step further, each leader has their own unique type of defences. Anders would have sentinels, colony could have a wall, Johnson would have mini bunker, Serina already has the ice nodes, kinsano obviously fire wall or fire turret. etc

Way too much coding for the two devs that are still working on HW2. The low number is also why we shouldn’t expect more than small balance changes anymore.
Best I would say we can hope for are the turret building slots showing up like in the campaigns.

I like this idea, something like in Labyrinth in HW1 that would reinforce any nodes left unattended for a short time.
