Former 343 Tyler Owens has made a thread on twitter explaining the forge & co-op situation, as well as content releases in games. I highly recommend you read the thread here.
It’s certainly an interesting read, but at the end of it, it all boils down to: “Infinite is in the state it is because it’s a Live Service Game”.
To which I reply: Nobody asked them to make Infinite a Live Service. If they went this way even though they couldn’t handle it, they dug their own graves.
So, what, his entire defense is what-aboutisms?
That’s absolutely lame.

Well-said. Live service was a concerning route to take and now the issues are starting to become evident… again. To me, the issue isn’t necessarily one of delaying core features. What concerns me is that this is a sign of bigger problems with the game. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

My thoughts exactly. There are so many red flags…
Its sort of a vop though right?
We were told be Chris that infi ite would launch in a full package.
They already delayed it once.
The excuse of it being a service game is a false narrative.
Adding in missing features isn’t adding post launch content its premature launch of the game.
They managed to create plenty of new microtransaction systems for launch but not long established feature synonymous with and unique to the franchise that actively invite player participation and new comers.
Its all entirely created by the studio and is quite simply poor management.
Be that MS or in studio is irrelevant the lessons weren’t learned is the message.
So I’m now worried the story will be another mess of abandoning threads.
Live service has a lot of potential yes, but that doesn’t help when you lose 2/3 of your fanbase in the first two months due to lackluster release. I’m not as concerned about co-op and forge rather the game and servers being playable, stable, and fun. Not to mention 343 has to put their money where their mouth is and drop consistent content starting week 1-4. If they don’t they’ll once again fumble a spectacular game and completely drain the player base and overall excitement. Look no farther than MCC, Fallout 76, Red Dead Redemption 2, etc.
