Heres a better source for forging lessons, all 48, http://www.reachingperfection.com/p/forge-lessons.html

is there a tutorial to change the rewards in invasion slayer

Play nice papercraft. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyways, I can vouch for MrGreenWithAGun. He does more research on the technicalities of the forge engine than anyone I have seen yet. Keep up the great work Mr. GG

I follow Godly’s lessons closely. He is one of the best writers I have come across.

All his lessons talk about how to design maps and are orthogonal to any one technology. They can be applied to any game engine.

My lessons talk about the Reach engine only, and not how to design maps.

His lessons teach how to design a car to be elegant, comfortable, fuel efficient, and affordable. My lessons teach how to turn the torque wrench so that you can manufacture the car you designed correctly. And The Awesome Guide teaches you which tires, seats, windows, and oil to use for the many different cars you could possibly build.

@Cherokee - not presently…

I don’t know if you plan on keeping this exclusive to lists of your articles, or if you’ll expand it to accept submissions. I’m fine either way – I think promoting some good tutorial resources here is a great idea.

If it’s the latter, though, then I’ve a simple little Infection article to contribute. This one is (like Godly’s Forge Lessons) more design-centric, but as it does focus specifically on Infection as it is implemented in Reach (rather than outlining “orthogonal” principles), it may therefore be relevant to your interests.

@DavidJCobb - I read through your article. It is really centered on design theory (and is best published at RP). Your article cites Reach from an analysis of their maps, and lacks any discussion regarding Reach forging mechanics. My site is more centered on how Reach Forge works, problems (bugs) with it, etc. Interesting article, BTW.

Oic now. Less “ideas for how to use this tool” and more instruction manual. K.

Thank you.

I have yet again updated the tutorial on symmetry settings. Initially I threw a chart out there to present what information I had compiled way back when I needed to deal with symmetrical game play on my aircraft carrier map, Flight Deck. But recently I thought I should get more in depth on how to use the object properties, and I added more information regarding how Invasion, Infection, and Race type games do not match against either FFA_ONLY nor TEAM_ONLY - which may be very useful for some forgers to leverage.

Yo Mr GG. What do you think of posting your stuff on RP over time? Maybe like one every few days or so? RP’s been needing some content since I’ve been busy with the baby/game so I don’t mind hosting more Halo specific stuff anymore. And I’ll start getting your stuff front paged around various places and you can spread the word and what not. We could get you setup as an author quite easily. Dwell on it and get back to me. :wink:

I request a sticky as well as a collaboration between Godly, GG, and whoever else has a tutorial into this one thread.

Make this the “official” tutorial to forging.
