Hello fellow Spartans,
this is an improvement idea that I already had when Halo 4’s forge mode was released for a couple of weeks.
At that time I didn’t have any hopes 343 would change anything on the forge system in this direction because I felt like the population that actually used it was already too small and even if they would have done it then it would have possibly been too late.
With all the efforts 343 has made so far on improving forge mode and the delaying of the forge mode release, I hope they are still able to integrate something like this.
A system like this needs to be implemented right from the start, or the forge population will very likely decrease fast, no matter how good the new forge tools are.
I’ve already posted this on reddit, in case you want this happening please don’t hesitate to give this thread here a like and upvote it there aswell:

When you are looking for high quality forge maps you shouldn’t have to go to a forum or a youtube channel to find a good creation.
That’s why I suggest 343 should implement a map rating system into the core experience of custom games on new maps.
So that after each custom match you’ll end up in a rating screen where you can give the map an overall rating from 1 to 10 stars.
Then you should have the option to give an enhanced rating or just skip to the menu.
In the enhanced rating screen could be the following categories that you could also each give a rating from 1 to 10 stars:
- Movement flow - Sightlines - Player spawns - Weapon spawns and placement - Aesthetics - CreativityThese rating screens could appear as part of the loading screen for the next map.
There should also be the option to put maps in certain categories where they can be judged according to the gametype that was played on them. Because you can easily have a map that is great for slayer but horrible for king of the hill or capure the flag.
Forgers should be able to set up map rotation playlists where people can play test through all their creations without having to regroup with new people in forums all the time.
Please just give us map rotation lists connected to our fileshare accounts. So people can easily find lobbies to test maps that they want to try out.
This way you could just join a group which is waiting to play on a custom list of certain maps. This could be a list that contains maps from the creator of the fileshare account aswell as other creator’s maps that he likes to promote. As soon as the lobby is full the rotation starts.
So please 343 if you realy want to give us the best forge experience so far, then please take this part of forge as serious as the improvements on the map editor.
I realy respect the work of all the “so called” forge pro’s who have their youtube channels and forums, but the popularity of a good map shouldn’t depend on a small group of people who judge maps according to their own taste. I’m sure there are a lot of forgers who didn’t reach the people who would have liked their maps because of the lack of a good rating system for everyone.
There should also be an IN GAME BOARD with all the top rated maps in each category that would show all time, weekly and monthly top lists of the best rated forge maps without the need for using filters at all.
You could even give out forge emblems for cartographers who reach the monthly top 10.
Then just let the best maps of each month go into matchmaking to let the maps be judged further on for a week and leave the top rated maps in a forge matchmaking playlist.
Please let me know your thoughts and ideas on this topic fellow spartan forgers and make this thread big enough to be noticed by 343.
