Watch out guys. The map overwrite bug has returned. I’m not sure how it happened exactly but I definitely overwrote a custom map. The name says one thing, and it loads up a different map. Luckily I only lost about an hour of work. I highly recommend saving progressive versions of your maps every couple of hours at least.
Also, I would like to ad that I’m extremely happy with this game. Thank you 343.
There’s a couple of things missing, like the ability to do one flag gametypes, and racing. I do miss having a flying UNSC vehicle as well. But I also understand that it’s impossible to keep every single player happy.
I’ll have to write some more in depth reviews after I’ve stopped feverishly playing the game. : )
Yeah, I spotted that bug. I remember it in reach. It was very, very rare, and tended to strike at random. On halo 4 it happens all the time. Usually about 1 in 3 times i edit a map. All i can say, is make sure you upload everything to your file share that you don’t want to lose. It better than making a duplicate, i did that in reach with most of my maps and when i edited one i had to edit the other or do some back and forth deleting and saving which was very risky, so take advantage of the large file share. Keep in mind this bug only occurs when you edit a map. If you start a brand new map and go save as, just so long as you don’t rejoin the map you can save and save over and over and it wont overwrite anything. The problem is, is when you make a map, leave it, edit another map, and then come back to the map you saved, and by clicking on the ‘Save’ option there is a chance the browser will get confused and overwrite your last map. All i can say is i Hope 343 sorts it once and for all, they have been doing amazing so far.
happened to me countless times…
Its happened to me a few times on Halo 4 now. First couple of times i found my map in temporary history, the other in my fileshare. Ive now lost a map i cant retrieve, i spent a week building it. So im now done with forging, waste of time.
