I know this has been asked a lot already but why is it so hard to put spawn able ai in forge. I heard it was about the ai not being scripted to the environment but is there a way for you guys to let us the players script the ai on our own. You let us make maps on our own. Here’s some examples I made up that can probably help.
Example 1: you place a point or an object right here and then the ai will go to that point.
If a player wants the ai to go way over to this location but there’s obstacles blocking the path, the player can place secondary points, this will cause the ai to go to each of the points before reaching the primary point. The points can have a number or some kind of counter that allows the ai to keep track of which point it goes to next.
Example 2: a player places a boundary that acts like a deadzone. The deadzone is a place the ai will never enter or try not to enter, if the ai stumbles into this zone the player can then place something like a counterpoint so the ai will have somewhere to go.
Example 3: For objective game modes, there can be a cube like object( I’m trying to say it looks like a kill boundary or safe boundary) and it can have different functions. One of the functions can be defense, the ai stay in here and hold off enemies for (x) amount of time. Or it can act like king of the hill and the ai will try to take it. The hill draws the ai towards it like example 1.
Example 4: the player can place cover points for the ai. If the ai can’t figure out what side of the object it should take cover
on, the player can put a trigger or counterpoint in this area that will make the ai take cover on this side if the player or enemy ai steps in it.
Flying ai can probably work the same but the points float.
With all the crazy things the halo community has created in forge over the years, imagine what spawn able ai will allow us to do.
I will spread these ideas around the internet and hopefully others in the community will spread these ideas around too. There is still a year left until the halo 5 guardians release so hopefully this will be considered and implemented into the game before release. Thank you for your time.
