I am so absolutely upset with the december update. No readily available user created maps? what happened to the good ol’ days when you could download a great race map and share it with all your friends? isn’t that why forge was created, to create and share awesome new gametypes and map varients with other halo players? now we have to follow them and hope that person who makes these great maps will accept our friend request. this is an issue that needs to be addressed. i am speaking for thousands of people and i can guarantee that. PLEASE FIX THIS 343!!! give us some more fun, we already are getting sick of these extremely competitive lobbies and want to download the goods

Well in all this is your opinion about Halo 5’s Forge. It is though by far the biggest there is and sure the controls are a little out there and need a little adjustment to it but it also doesn’t hurt to learn then again. This Forge as allowed for great creations to be born among the community. You just have to take your time to get things going, like it did for my first map since Im not all that creative lol.
The issues that Halo 5’s Forge has it that its a feature that should have been able to be used offline as well and of course without the bugs but its a newer, more evolved version of Halo Reach’s Forge. Things are being added to it and it will only get better. The file browser is the thing that is a big issue as of late and 343 will be fixing that as well to hopefully be as great as Halo Reach’s and Halo 3’s. There are a lot of things that could be added to these to make them better for us all but it is just up to 343i on if they want to take our feedback. I think as long as we don’t always bash them because we think they did bad.
It’d be great if they put out 343 recommended map variants or something the community votes on weekly along with weekend gametypes.
Halo 5 does need a better file share system, but they do not need to accept your friend request to download a map. I just downloaded the remade maps they recommended in the community update this morning. You just send a friend request to the people, go to your friends list in Halo 5, select them, and bam, you can download any local files or bookmarks they have. Obviously not nearly as good as a real file browser, but you certainly don’t have to sit and wait and hope they accept your friend request.
I am pumped about the coming better file share, and waiting for it before download other people’s maps. However, I understand that with an update that massive, it takes time and resources to do a solid release, so I get that they had to postpone the file share.
To say the new forge isn’t very good can only be ignorance.
It has everything the old forges had, and way more.
I was big into reach forging, I was bummed / let down by halo 4 forge (clearly technical limitations limited the forge), and very impressed with the new forge. It has more objects, is easier to use (once you adjust to it) has a much better scripting system then H2A, and has clearly been well thought out and polished.
My guess is people complain because they haven’t taken the time to learn how to use the new, honestly better, controls.
Halo 5 Forge is superior.
And they’re actually bothering to give it meaningful updates (Prefabs, probably weapons like the Hammer, and hopefully missing features such as the Kill Ball, Trait Zones/Gravity Zones) which neither they nor Bungie before them ever did.
Atm it’s missing some key features (mostly gametypes to compliment the mapmaking tools) but I don’t doubt that this will be the best Forge to date when it’s all said and done.
