What I love in Halo was Forging. To be able to create maps, challenges and test your creativity beyond what you imagine and show it to your friends. But, Halo 4’s Forge Maps are not suitable for game types like Dominion. Maybe others but Dominion is a game type that needs to be played on bigger maps. That is what I think. Impact, Erosion and Ravine… it is too small. In Halo Reach, I like what they did with the Forge World. It is so big, you can explore around and just build where you want. Not basically where you want but… you know what I mean. There are many choices.
So, I’m not sure if anyone agrees if this but I’m would love to have a Forge World that is big.
Yes, it’s one of the very few things I don’t like about Halo 4. It just seems like Forge 3.0 has taken a huge step back in regards to Forge maps.
I loaded up Forge on Impact the other day meaning to make a good map for a Hunger Games-style gametype I was going to make and I was just like “… eh.” and went to go play matchmaking. It could have been far better than Forge World, but they made it perhaps half as good.
I’d do one of two things if I could change Forge for Halo 5:
Add an actual map editor with terrain editing
(Working with as-it-is Forge) Make the Forge maps large, blank-canvas maps; include much more “natural” options, including large, grid sized rocky, grassy, and metal flats, with which you could add your own blank canvas into the air. There’d also be “rocky hills” and “grassy hills”, which you could phase into the flats to mimic a terrain editor slightly.
