I do not know why forge must be an online only feature. If any of you know, please inform me, but my issue lies not with this but with saving maps. It is beyond frustrating to have worked on a forge creation for over two hours, had it save improperly, and then while rebuilding the lost progress have the server drop me and lose it again. If there is a legitimate reason for forge to mandate that we are online, so be it, but please implement a recovery or autosave feature 343i, as it is discouraging to have this happen when I enjoy halo, and forging, so much.
SKYNET.
Forge being online only is so they can keep forge updated like they promised with new features, objects, etc… with out having to create a whole new forge sandbox with those features and also i may be wrong but it being online only is what allows us to use any object on any map and again that goes back to them being able to update requarly so we can have those new tools and objects on maps we have already created or ones we are working on. But i also think that its possibile to have an offline mode that you could forge on that could be switched to an online mode to get the a formentioned updates with features and objects so you could then have them in an offline mode but i’m no programmer or developer i’m just someone who likes forge and sees the offline/online modes available in a lot of games and i hope that one day we will get that feature cause when my internet goes out or i don’t have the extra cash to pay it right away i would still like to be able to forge maps then play test them when the internet does come back on or i pay it this would save a lot of time of building maps when something like that happens or the halo servers goes out it would just automatticly be switched to an offline mode so we don’t loose what we have worked on hope this helps
I saw a suggestion in another thread that stated that the lighting and physics can’t be handled by the Xbox one, and so 343 servers help process that. I can’t confirm if this is true, but there have been several threads like this one and that argument comes up a lot.
