Forge will not save Halo. It might even just be that final nail in the coffin

I propose they work out a deal with Microsoft and just find and hire all the developers that worked on the original five games to have them supervise development of Infinite and The Master Chief Collection. Jaime Griesemer, Tyson Green, Shi Kai Wang, Hao Chen, Marcus Lehto, Robert Mclees, Marty and Mike, everyone. They already got Paul Bertone, so I think a reunion could be possible. The original development team is our last best hope to save Halo.

People have been saying 343 has been making the same mistakes for 10 years, the reality is they’ve really only been making it for 6 to 8ish years. MCC released as badly as it did because Microsoft told 343 last minute to do a collection instead of only Halo 2 Anniversary.

Halo 5 was missing a LOT of content at launch but by 3 months in we had 90% of the staple game modes added alongside the new modes that were around at launch, and while this was a problem 343 cleaned it up fairly quickly.

Halo Infinite is the first game by 343 to genuinely be bad by design. Everything about Halo Infinite just feels bad to experience. From its pitiful sandbox, to it’s paper thin vehicles, to it’s dysfunctional ui systems.

Halo 4 was the only game 343 put out that was fully functional and content complete day 1.

Yet it still fell into the same pitfall of “what 343 has been doing wrong for 10 years.” Just because the game was complete at launch doesnt mean 343 got it right. Just because people have come to actually appreciate the campaign doesnt mean 343 got it right. It was the first omen in the tragic downfall of this franchise. They tried turning Halo into something that manifestly was not Halo. That’s what 343 has been doing wrong for 10 years. All the other blunders that came on top of that just emphasize how unequipped 343 is to actually manage a game of this scope.

The One feedback we have been giving them unanimously is we don’t want a rotating store, we want a store that is more of a catalog… And yet they keep trying to side step that suggestion be ause they themselves want the rotating store to induce FOMO purchases.

We keep saying we don’t like it we want a cataloge… They keep saying we hear you guys so what do they do… Take away the dailys, and recycle a ton of stuff…

It’s so simple catalogue store model… And yet they are actively doing everything possible to not get rid of the rotating store model

Yep. Thats basically the perfect summary of what 343 thinks of their fans. “We know what you guys want from us, but we dont care to give it to you. We’re just gonna keep doing things that make big revenue number get bigger.” The irony is that customer satisfaction yields higher profit margins over the long term. Even though they claim this is a 10 year project, they cant seem to see past the current Quarterly earnings report… Pathetic.

Right now 343i stand at a crossroad, path A keep pushing ahead and do what they want or path B a complete overhaul of all things matchmaking. If history has shown us anything it that development teams who decide to go all in and listen to their fans and community tend to make the improvements need to raise the game to new and exciting heights (Diablo 3 and Destiny are two that spring to mind).

If 343i keep going with path A their vision of an ultra competitive FPS with little to no social aspects then halo will eventually go the way of the Dodo. But, if the go with path B they would need to talk with the wider community and fans not just the select few who they choose, they need to completely overhaul every single aspect of multiplayer from a social standpoint, a networking standpoint, the shop, sandbox standpoint (maps, vehicles and weapons) literally the whole lot needs a significant improvement. Sure it’s a big job but the hard work put in now will reap rewards further down the line.

Yeah, I have had a few people harass me over my continuing dislike of Infinite. Like, come on, my dislike of Infinite is based on reality, a pattern of behavior from 343, and my much more positive experiences with past Halos, even 3 included!

I also have a friend who keeps telling me that Forge will make Infinite better. I do NOT believe him for a second because MIDfinite’s custom games will never be fixed (easily something that would be placed under a WON’T FIX AND BY DESIGN header, much like virtually everything else with the game), which, coupled with MIDfinite’s terrible gameplay, will make Forge dead on arrival. Thankfully a good number of people on my Xbox friends list still play H5 and MCC, but on the other hand, the issue is that the Xbox mobile app won’t even show MCC under “Popular with friends”.

I mean this entire community has been on heavy doses of copium since Infinite day 1. They simply refuse to see how bad the game actually is just because “the core gameplay is fun” which imo, no it isn’t. The weapon sandbox is trash, as is the vehicle sandbox. The map selection is pitiful, the lack of polish is obvious.

This is why I prefer games like Reach, 4, and 5 over the OG Bungie titles, because they each had something unique about them, and for me I enjoyed Halo 4’s MP BECAUSE it was different. Infinite just fails at trying to be a hybrid of Reach and 3, namely because it’s missing literally everything that made those games good to begin with.

Oh dude I know the feeling, The Halo Discord has a guy or chick I can’t remember but they Always pop up in there and act very pretend tious and rude to anyone who has any criticism of Halo.

It’s crazy cus if you do the same you get temp banned.

Also Everyone saying forge will save Halo, I don’t think so ,I don’t I’m it will bring back players. It only to custom games. Like the MP side is going to be empty.

The series has had dozens of final nails since 343 took over. Theyve basically been killing a ghost over and over again

You needed one for 5 too.

The current player count is the highest it’s ever been in the last six months and it’s still going up. In the middle of the workweek. On a Tuesday afternoon.

If ever there was proof that there’s a community just waiting for Infinite to get back on track, I think this is it. It is possible for 343 to improve the game and get healthier player counts.
