Please 343 consider changing your mind. Think of all the money you can make for Microsoft! Please monetize Forge! It can’t be that hard to implement, and you could compartmentalize different asset packs! At most give the community a base package for free and then squeeze the money out of them if they want to be creative and give to their fellow community members!
C’mon you know you want to!
I get why the rumor that forge would be monetized was so pervasive, but at no point did I seriously think they would monetize it. Glad it can FINALLY be put to rest.
That remains to be seen.
They also said they would adjust the shop prices and later went back on their word. Not to mention all the lies prior to infinite being released. At this point, I don’t trust a single word stated from 343 given the actual fact that their actions speak a hell of a lot louder than the words.
Same. Willing to bet they say it will be free ,but to use certain aspects, you will need to buy items from the shop. Just like when “More Customization than Halo Reach” and “You can earn armor only by playing the game” was announced.
It’s actually messed up that 343 had the opportunity to make a decent game, but instead we got a shop and a beta that has been going on for almost a year and yet to come.
I say yet because no one knows when they will actually make a complete game.
Just remember they also said “millions of customization options and all customizations will come from only playing the game”
we make cool curved topology in maps using solid tools by leasing advanced dev kit access to sapien and guerilla for halo infinite >:]
They also lied and twisted the truth like a hundred times before Infinite launched. I have full trust that they will sell multiple “content packs” for forge.
@HozerDude please post a link to verify the claim.
It was deduced that cosmetics would most likely be monetized when the game was announced to be F2P.
As for the quotes, you’re misremembering/misrepresenting them because you’re misquoting them.
Per the Wayback machine:
Waypoint Community Update, December 19, 2019:
While “fans being pleased” was not the case, it’s also not incorrect to state the level of customization options are on par with that of Halo Reach, especially at this point.
As for the next quote
This simply wasn’t stated in any capacity:
“Coatings (and therefore colors) can only be purchased?! >:(”
No, that is not the case. There will be all kinds customization items (including coatings) that can be earned in-game and earned as special rewards. Will there be purchases? Sure. Is that the only way? Absolutely not.

There’s another press release out there that discusses cosmetics and talks about how there are exclusive free to unlock paths alongside exclusive monetized paths. But I can’t seem to find it despite linking it multiple times here.
Edit it’s the video linked to Sodium_Bath
Either way, they never once stated you’d only be unlocking armor by playing the game.
They never said this, unless you can cite it, it’s a combination of a few actual statements that your brain mashed together that’s currently being used to gaslight.
“ensures there are millions of combinations for your Spartans,”
And
“A lot of our stuff is unlocked through playing the game, and only through playing the game”

Well I guess we will find out soon enough when forge when it’s released if 343i is lying or not. The truth is in the pudding!
Peace!

True, I did misquote, but their general promise and what they delivered was so radically different that my misquote may as well be the truth.
With 50% of the Season 1’s Free Battlepass being XP Boosts, and more armors being sold in the store than earned through weeklies or battlepass, that “alot of customization” statement already fell out the bottom.
They’ve fix that for sure with Season 2, offering more, but what they have delivered and what they have promised was two different things. Who’s to say they won’t pull a fast one again? The trust between 343 and their playerbase is just that fragile.
And gaslight? Pfft. Gaslight would be attempting to convince people that 343 didn’t give anything to us at all. I’ve merely quoted their message and telling people to remember what they said and what they delivered and hinting to think twice before getting overly hopeful.
Does this individual actually work for 343 or is this a situation like an influencer on YouTube? Because until 343 hard confirms it, which they have the ability to do right now, I am extremely skeptical that Forge will be free.
Its just as possible that this is the press-release version of Forge and they’ve taken off the paywalls so anyone can access it.
And all the lies SINCE Infinite released. Every little single thing about Infinite out of 343’s mouths have been lies, why should we suddenly trust them now?
Hallelujah! This is some fantastic news this Sunday morning. Thank you for sharing.
Here is some proof what was said about Monetized Forge found on discord!

The truth here is, if they want respect, that trust, etc… they literally as a developer need to earn it, and so far they haven’t.
do we know if this Forge is offline playable on xbox yet. The multiplayer is with bots so hopefully it is. Wont be holding my breath though
My guy, your technically correct. Sure the best kind of correct but it feels like your defending corporate double speech.
All these things were said to directly misinform and misdirect. We all had the same thoughts, or I guess I should say the vast majority of people thought along the same lines to what a lot of those quotes mentioned.
I’m challenging incorrect quotes with the actual quotes. It’s a fact check against false information, not a argument in favor of the actual quote.
Arguments against ambiguous statements are better when the ambiguous statement is used, arguing against ambiguity using false statements is the worst route to take. I don’t use this term often or lightly, but definitively it’s hypocrisy.
Having thoughts based on ambiguous statements is not the same as misremembering and thus misquoting said ambiguous statements.
That being said, your interpretation of said ambiguous statements are subjective as not ‘everyone’ had the same interpretation as evidenced by these forums on various threads.
The only objective truth it seems is that “the majority of people” seemed to have the same optimistic subjective interpretation of these ambiguous statements, but interpretation has in fact varied despite this.
Thank you for owning up to it on one hand, but on the other hand doubling down on an incorrect baseless quote doesn’t make grant it any more merit.
If you look only at the Season 1 BP sure? Seems rather specific to prove a point.
I guess a better question to ask is how much is “a lot”? “A lot” is not a quantifiable statement.
According to ambiguous statements, I’d say that they delivered within the boundaries of what was stated whether I’m satisfied with them or not.
I agree that trust has eroded, and the fault lies primarily on 343 (though some fault does fall on the playerbase as well).
While not intentionally gaslighting when initially stated, it is spreading false information and post facto deliberately when factoring in your statement suggesting your false statement “may as well be the truth”.
I can’t make you delete the statement, but I can challenge what was said logically.
