I think that a CGB should release with S3. Although not alongside the open beta of Forge it would give people time to work on larger projects in forge. That’s just me tho.
Halo 3, Reach and 4, didn’t have a custom games browser for Forge. Why do people think it’ll fail?
This
Halo forge has succeeded in the past without a custom games browser although it would be great if we have a file browser at least so great custom games and maps can spread like a wild fire
Also i wouldn’t want forge delayed until we get a custom games browser as if we get infection it would get boring rq if we’re limited to official maps in custom games
Namely because of MCC’s massively popular CGB, but that’s because the MCC team took the time to develop the CGB for MCC properly, nothing about Infinite has been properly developed, the game, if I had to describe it’s coding as a visual, think Missingno. from the OG Gen 1 pokemon games, the backwards “L” form, that’s what Halo Infinite looks like as a visual representation, just a glitchy mess.
It’d be fine without it. But 343 should add good forge maps from the community into playlist rotation, helps with all the content drought.
As someone who is waiting anxiously for Forge since the rest of the game has not exactly lived up to my initial expectations, I agree with this sentiment. It won’t fail so long as there are people creative enough to utilize it at even the basic level.
I am not the greatest when it comes to scripting since I did not stick around long after Halo 5 came out, but I am good at using the tools available to me to create maps that are highly detailed and, in many cases, compatible with a variety of different game modes.
Sometimes, that is all that it really takes. While the absence of a Custom Games Browser will certainly have a negative impact on Forge, I concur that it will not spell the end for it. So long as it is feature rich and provides enough content during its initial Beta phase, it should, hopefully, occupy some creators long enough for more content to release.
The only real problem that I see, then, would be 343i’s ability to provide that content before the initial release grows stagnant…
Would it not in fact be better to release forge, that way people who create maps for created modes like idk racing or some other mode people like to create, have a head start on making the maps then when the custom games thing comes round they have the map ready to go? Or am I missing something?
Not to mention the player base that probably wouldn’t even use custom games browser & just use to forge to create random stuff and have fun friendly games…
Either way I don’t think forge will fail, I think it’ll actually keep a small portion of the player base who are on the fence about staying, stay just a little bit longer
It isn’t going to fail, its just only going to be used to build things. Once a CGB and working customs/file share release then, and only then, will it be a really big deal. However, the advantage here will be that when there is a CGB, there will be a large backlog of awesome custom modes and maps ready to be played.
The biggest concern about forge I have is 343 will not support community creations in proper way.
I mean I’m sure that new forge maps or modes will be in the game when forge will release or shortly after, but i want them to appear more often than it was in H5 for example.
How many cool/good maps was made by community in H5? I believe there was so many.
How many of them was added to playlists and how long it took?
I hope we at least get a file browser with it.
I sure want Halo Infinite to miraculously come together, but 343 stated that the reason for forge being delayed is it must reach the bar or the benchmark of quality that they have set. UMM, the game is big-time buggy, and so what was the quality benchmark for the game??? I think what we have witnessed is 343 cutting out as much as possible, so there is less to go wrong. Imagine if everything advertised to be in the game was in the game, this game would be an absolute train wreck. So here’s hoping, but I suspect the 2 or 3 people working on forge must wait for all the other departments/compartments involved in the game to look things over, no one knows what anyone else is doing. It’s like government bureaucracy, slow and inefficient. The game has changed, it’s not a passion anymore, you can read about the crazy amount of outsourcing, that should say it all. This is not an attack on the scripters and designers, they just work there.
Problem is the awful ui is gonna fall to peices when they tdy add the cgb.
Its such an awful waste that this game launched it needed so much more time and the story was such an abysmal peice of writting and reused assets.
There was a chance for greatness but instead we got half baked mediocrity and i dont blame the devs i pitty them for having such poor leadership.
The engine isnt even conplete let alone the game. Sigh.
As I said before I believe from the beginning they are able to give players some tools to forge on existing maps at least, like maybe with some objects, crates, effects, filters and other simple stuff. But customs are broken, so…
Me either. But those is the bit I am looking forward to the most.
This is the key.
If you can’t have a browser etc. You have to have some sort of community spotlight. And then showcase these maps and game types.
Preferably in their own playlist.
Eg. Release Infection and have a comp to find the three best Forged Infection maps. Feedback and tweak with the authors. And then use them.
If Forgers realise they have control over the game the community will become 343s most powerful tool.
So when does 343 plan on adding Forge?
