Forge Weather may be in halo 4

I was searching through Halopedia, i came upon the forge article. I was scrolling and in the trivia section it said

Forge 2.0 in Halo: Reach was originally going to feature Weather as a changeable object but was cut due to time restraints: “No weather effects in the Forge. Was something we wanted, but something we didn’t get to in time.”

The only reason Bungie said they didnt have this feature was because they ran out of time. If 343 is using a modified Reach engine like Frank said, they might already be halfway there. Think about any map you made. Now imagine it with rain or snow. I hope that since 343 has more than a year to add new features, they might as well pick up where bungie left off…along with more awesome milestones in forge as well.

Here’s the link to the article, just in case you don’t believe me

What are your thoughts on my prediction?

I hope so.

> I hope so.

ditto

I want to see nighttime changes first of all. All maps need to have the ability to change from day to night (unless in space). Then we need rain, snow, sleet, fog, falling ashes and sparks, flood spores raining, there are a lot of options we could go with. One thing I’d also like to see in forge is the ability to take a file picture, so you can take a screenshot of your map. One of the most common things I hear in community playlists and forge maps is “Hmm this map sounds interesting, let’s vote for it.” Spawn in game “Oh no! This is THAT map? This map sucks!”. People don’t remember names real well, but if it shows the image up there people can remember it better and people who have never tried the forge map before can get a little preview layout.

You bring up a very good point. I mean, for goodness’ sake, all the Forge World maps have the EXACT same preview image. Give us a hint.

Ive posted the same ideas as yours many times.Great minds think alike.I hope you can in h4.

Forge Snow!!! I’m into it.

Rain? Snow? Possibly fog?

My mind just exploded from the possibilities.

I will like to see signs (words in walls) night with light objects, dead bodies, blood, water at the floor, MOA, 6 invasion phases with 16 players :3, and so f&%(&%ing copy paste!!! for cool towers and just copy paste, and can put grass, terrain, and thats all i want for christ…HALO 4!!!

And for the love of God can we please add textures to most, if not all forge objects! I mean, forge world is cool and all, but that bland gray gets boring after a while you know? Wood, glass, ice, rock, dirt, covenant, flood, metal, forerunner metal, human metal, etc.

:truestory: forge world is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring only a background with no feelings and boring grass and gray objects

Forge Weather would be great for people who arent tht good at forge and omg it would be so epic !!!

I’d be happy with a simple day/night toggle

Oh, and you know… A little more effort on the forge system in general.

Forge World disappointed, so did the forging objects.

No more gray!

I hope something like it happens. But you got to keep in mind things like fog or rain might put huge strains on internet conditions. Think of how “well” Holdout runs over Live in FF with 4 people for instance…

A more safe, and perhaps even better idea would to have changable daytime conditions, and add 2-3 Texture set ups for each map.
Think of it this way:
Being able to change daytime (effectively the lighting) to:

 • Sunrise/sunset
 • Mid day
 • Night

and if some maps (lets say Coagulation/Bloodgulch for this example) have 2-3 different “skins” that you could switch between:

 • Snow
 • Desert/Dirt
 • Grass

This way you could set and create different looks, times of day and “weather” without actually having dynamic weather that might be slowing down the engine, framedrops and lag over Live (keep in mind that not everybody has enourmously fast internet!)

I read the OP and most of the ideas posted in the comments and all I can say is; FORGEGASM

Why? Why the -blam!- was this cut!?!

I’ve always wanted to be able to change the weather, a dark gloomy rainy level is my dream!

They should take a leaf out of Far Cry’s Map Editor, that was awesome. I had always wanted to play the level I made in that on Halo.

I really really hope 343i does this. I’ve been wanting it since Halo 3. And I just hope the forge objects have more color to them this time around.
And that motion-blur from Reach–wayy to much, please tone it down. The motion-blur in ODST was just absolutely perfect.

You should be able to not only change weather, but also time of day, type of surface (grassy, desert, ice, snow, water etc…) and weather buildings look human / forerunner / covanant.

of course they should have enough time it’ll be a year.
