Forge - Warthogs Not Respawning

Hey Forgers,

I’ve been working on a Warthog race type map that has 16 warthogs. The map is pretty much done and I’ve used up the budget. During a custom game test run, I noticed that the default warthogs were not respawning at all.

The vehicles are lined up side by side, wraiths on the right, and default hogs on the left. There is plenty of space between them (I noticed that vehicles don’t respawn if they’re too close to each other). In game, the hogs on the left side were not respawning. Every single one of them. But, the hogs on the right would. Strange thing is when in Forge mode, the left side hogs would respawn.

The only thing I could think of is that there are a set of initial spawns much closer to the hogs on the left side. I have not tested to see if these were causing the problem yet. I was hoping to get this out there to see if anyone had similar issues? Or know of any reasons why vehicles won’t respawn.

Where exactly are the initial spawns located?

I think the game’s engine can only allow a certain number of Worthogs on a map at one time, meaning that if you maxed out the amount of Worthogs you could place, and you hop into one and drive it around, the one you took or wrecked won’t respawn until the one you have/had disappears. If this isn’t the case, then I have a feeling that it’s still related to quantity if multiple vehicles aren’t repawning.

Halo 4 Forge is such a mess, lol, I’m still trying to figure out why weapons still can’t be picked up off of floors made of coliseum walls on Erosion.

If the Warthogs are present at the start of the map but never respawn, it’s because an object can only spawn if it’s hitbox can fit in the designated area.

The Wraiths on your map may be obstructing the spawning grounds for the Warthogs, you’ll have to move them to a more prudent location if you want to fix it. If that doesn’t work, then move the Warthogs so that there is plenty of space between each of them.

ManlyS - The closest initial spawn is about 1-1/2 spawn object sizes away. In an earlier version, the initial spawn was right next to the vehicles and they all respawned just fine.

Larry - To be more specific, the map has a total of 16 Warthogs. In an earlier version of the map, every Warthog respawned just fine. I should note that the map was 50% done at the time. I’m wondering now if the number of objects in the map is interfering with the default hogs? I pretty much used up the entire budget. When I tested the current version further, every single Wraith (turned Warthog) respawned. None of the default Warthogs respawned. By the end of the testing, I had 8 hogs remaining.

Andy - I noticed that the vehicles need enough space around them to respawn. In earlier versions, the vehicles had at least 2.0 units of space between them. Now in the current version, there is a bit more space. What’s driving me nuts is that when in Forge mode, I tested each vehicle to see if it would respawn properly. In both the earlier and current versions, every vehicle respawned. Also, in custom games, the earlier arrangement worked well. Now that the map is complete, those same 8 default hogs just don’t respawn anymore in custom games.

I saw a quick note somewhere that there could be too many objects in the map that might interfere with vehicle respawns but it was just a blip of info with no details. Does anyone know anything about that?

In recent testing, I also removed nearby initial spawns and moved two of the default hogs really far from the Wraith-hogs, resulting with no success in custom game testing. Still having the same problem. Which is why I’m leaning towards the too many objects theory???

Just an update… I replaced all the default Warthogs with Scorpions. So far, this method works. The only drawback is that I have to put in at least one actual Warthog for the “Warthogs Only” Vehicle Set to work. Otherwise, no Warthogs would appear.
