One of the main reasons that I bought this game was for forge. There’s something awesome about creating your own custom maps in games and often times they play better than the original content. That being said, Forge is completely useless without any type of match making. Who has 8 friends online playing Halo all at the same time? I’m hoping this post will get enough attention so that this can be addressed by the developers.
That would be cool if we had Custom Matchmaking servers. Something akin to Halo CE on the PC could work. See who is hosting a game and request to join, or host a lobby yourself. That’d be awesome!

As far as the current server issues are concerned, Bravo did respond in another thread:

Not talking about the forge servers. I’m sure that will be fine. I’m talking about the fact that the only way to get people to play your custom map is by individually inviting friends (or unlikely randoms). There should be a matchmaking system just as there is for regular arena/warzone.

I think that, in the past, both Bungie and 343i have both stated that they will never implement this, as it competes directly with matchmaking. I do not have a source, but may have seen it on Bnet or Gaf. After reading so many different forums for many years, I can’t remember the source for all the information I’ve read, but I do believe it was addressed at some point. Regardless, it’s a popular request, so maybe they’ll eventually change their minds.
So as the original thread message suggests, Forge is useless without matchmaking.
