Hi guys,
I don’t see a thread dedicated to Forging… perhaps we could start one here…
I’m scouring the Internet but finding it tough to locate good tutorials for using forge. I suppose it is very new to infinite, so in time it’ll come.

Youtube has some basics type stuff.
A lot of the older Halo 5 tutes probably have some relevance. Although scaling probably makes a lot of that stuff redundant.
I used to hit up ForgeHub. The forum there is pretty dead - but I think the discord is up and running. But it’s still a great place to look at what’s being showcased and what you can aspire to yourself.
i have suggested that to Moderators here nemours times. Kinda gives me the impression they don’t wanna make one.
Peace!

I would recommend friending and or following other forgers on xbl, Twitter, r/forge & joining clubs on xbl such as Forgehub, Forge Labs, & Halo Spark Forge Network. It also helps to post pics of your work on social media and in the xbl club feeds to get feedback on your work and give it on other forgers work as well. Try to co-op build with other forgers when possible and be willing to play test other forgers maps. I would also recommend watching forgers who live stream their builds such as UneeqTV on Twitch and YouTube- you never know when you’re going to catch them solving a problem you’ve been stuck on for a while.
If the devs want the game to succeeded, they should promote forge as much as they can.
Thanks, this was a helpful post!
I agree that there should be a thread on this site that people can frequent for forge tips.
Yes, mainly because it isn’t as intuitive as one might hope. That’s fine, its a tool that has a learning curve… I have no problem with that. But it makes it hard for new blood to enter the map making community if they can’t work out how to use the software.
I’ve followed Darth’s suggestion and joined the clubs, hopefully I’ll be welcomed there and not treated like a waste of time n00b! ![]()
NEW QUESTION: When doing the basic design for a map, you can use MP or non MP pieces. MP pieces cannot have their textures changed… so if you construct a map using MP pieces, surely you’re just stuck with the barebones layout? What use is that, apart from doing rough mock ups?
If you’re knew to forging, or you’re like me and haven’t really tried to forge since Reach, then you might want to start simple and just try to make either a racetrack or some terrain. Both mostly require you to only use 1-2 simple pieces and it helps you get familiar with the controls (muscle memory etc). Once you do that, if you feel comfortable enough, try and make your creation, or if you need more practice, try to remake a map from an earlier game.
Lastly, and this is important regardless of skill, load into other forger’s maps (especially forge council member’s) and see what pieces and tricks they used. I probably spent the 1st 3 days of forge just picking apart Paimon’s Eternity map. It’s a masterclass in using pieces in ways you wouldn’t expect.
And one more thing (I promise), block out your maps with simply blocks first just to get an understanding of the layout and worry about art later.
Another suggestion for forgers that prefer having the preset block sizes from H4/Reach would be to recreate the full array of basic blocks, walls, and ramps and save the set as a prefab and then ungroup in Forge every time you start a new map. That way anytime you want a particular size block you can just go to your set and duplicate the size you want. Keep in mind that a block unit in H4/Reaches Forge is equivalent to 8 cubic feet and that so-called shorts and thins are 4 ft tall or wide so for example, a 3x4x1 block would translate to 24x32x8ft.
Where is the InItial camera folder in the menu located. Can seem to find it.
Peace!

Under match flow I think
Guys, what dirty data in lighting, audio, reflections generating menu mean? What I’m doing wrong?
Oh, I get it, I just need to generate it, sorry ![]()
