I have a lot of awesome ideas for what they could do with there next game. In this thread I will be explaining in depth on how this would work.
Ok. Survival Forge, you are put in the middle of an array of enemies surrounding you. At first when the game start you start off with a very small budget to work with. (ex 50 budget) As you go though the waves, your budget will increase and at the same time the enemies will get harder to fight off. Also, you will have a limited amount of time to build your base until the next wave of enemies approach you.
You would be able to buy ammo and different guns as you progress. If you get fare enough and need the extra support you can call in marines, ODSTs or even other spartans to help you fight off the enemy. Spartans will cost you the most of course.
The enemy will adapt to your tactics and your moves as the waves go by and you will have to find more ways to take them out instead of the same way. So if your sniping your enemies round after round and it would feel easy. The game would would read how many kills you have with a certain weapons and if you have say 100 kills with a sniper, the enemy will start using what your using, so it wont be as easy because there using your tactic and strategy.
Skulls will also be added to the enemy as waves go to buff up there difficulty. Also, the enemies traits will be adjusted such as how much shields they have, if there immune to assassinations or not, how much damage they can do, how fast there able to move, etc. (not done in the game settings, the game itself will buff them up as the waves go)
There would be limitations to how you could build your base so you don’t make yourself invincible. You will not be able to enclose yourself from the enemy. You sell be making your own base how ever you want to build it. Every game you play will be different because it all depends on how you decide to build up your base and what area around the map you decide to build it on.
So basically it’s a mixture between Forge and Firefight. (More intelligent AI though)
Considering this is basically what Spartan Ops was (take the same environment, move some stuff around, and make scripted enemy spawns), I think this is a great idea.
I remember playing a similar PC mod back in the day–SourceForts to be exact.
There was an amount of time for each team to build (creatively named the “build time”). After that period, the two teams (coincidentally Red and Blue) would fight it out with their self-constructed “bases”.
To be honest, I wouldn’t mind a similar gamemode using Forge’s capabilities. In fact, it would be pretty -Yoinking!- awesome.
If they don’t want to include it in matchmaking, a Survival type gamemode–where you play against bots–would be equally entertaining.
Enemies will come to you regardless of where you are and you will be able to build anywhere on the map ground up and yes I suppose you can say it can replace spartan ops.
I like this and I would like to see a Forge custom gametype where the monitor helps the team by buying weapons, vehicles, barricades, etc. to support the team and keep them alive. Of course you kill the enemy to get moneyz for the monitor to buy you stuff.

Perhaps not, but its another idea for it or a different gametype.
I guess like Battlefield’s Commander mode, have one (or two?) Forge monitor, the rest Spartans. Same thing as above, limited and gradually increasing budget. You’ll rely on teamwork to have the Monitor get you what you need. Cover, bases, weapons, etc.
Maybe make it so you have to protect the Monitor as well, like a VIP.
Just some other thoughts, but I think its a great idea!
Only problem I could see as of now is the generating lighting message that always shows up when switching back and forth. Thats why makeing a couple of guys static Monitors could help keep things smooth.

generating lighting can easily be removed and is completely unnecessary. Especially in a gametype like this, it would only harm the game.
Actually, why would that be a problem? Unless the Monitor can offer to make another player the Monitor, there wouldn’t really be any switching between modes.
