What features do you think are in, or want to see added to Infinite’s Forge?
well who knows proably have what 5 and go from there cause thats gonna be hard to top with what was made with 5’s forge
i have a map idea and it would be nice if there was a script that lets me measure explosive damage in an area over time
I want to see forge. Period.
While we don’t know specifically how Infinite’s scripting works, I do know something like what you describe is possible to do in Halo 5’s Forge with some tinkering. Without a doubt that potential will surely carry over.
Judging by the leaked footage they have taken a page from Halo 5’s Forge, but to what degree I am unsure.
thats gonna be awhile just a heads up
I’m gonna laugh if props end up in the store.
3000cr for Timmy, Olive, Traffic cone, and a weapon emblem for Commando
i heard a rumour it may take 9 mos. before we get FORGE!! That is gonna suck donkey balls!!
If I recall it will come out during season 3 which I think is slated for August, but I could be wrong on that date.
That would be the death of Forge.
Give us AI and the ability to make our own levels. We’ve been asking for those in Forge since how long?
ItS jUsT cOsMeTiCs
Mark my words, I bet they will try to monetize it one way or the other. Whether it be individual props, or more likely alternate color palettes for the props.
Forgable AI would be such an incredible addition to Forge. I’ve got so many ideas for how it could be used, but it all hinges on what is technologically possible.
The scary part is getting AI to operate on a custom terrain which could be really tricky to pull off and would require something like Gmod has where you can generate navmesh, so that the AI can traverse the level. I haven’t the faintest idea of how that is done, but hopefully it’s not too difficult.
However it should be noted that the same studio that Forge was outsourced to in Halo 5 is once again working on Infinite’s Forge in conjunction with 343i if I recall. Point being with the massive leap they made from Halo 4 to 5 we could see spectacular things from them once again.
Given the recent announcement of earn-able credits I’m hopeful that we will never see that, but I understand your concern. Prior to today’s announcement I probably would’ve come to the same conclusion.
Considering the fact that its 9 months after launch, and considering how advanced Halo 5’s was… I think its fair to say that Infinite’s Forge (on paper) will be the most advanced that it has ever been within Halo.
I’m thinking AI and some advanced map making features, I think that fans will come up with some absurd levels and custom games months years down the line after Forge is released.
The real question in my mind is if it’ll just be an absolute buggy mess. With great power comes great responsibility. I wouldn’t be surprised if it came out and required many months afterwards to become functional.
I’m so looking forward to scripting.
What we need is;
- A better way of cycling through players.
- More info to act upon a death; the killer, assistants, and how they died.
- Expanded traits; teams, colour/effects, and starting weapons.
- Ability to assign labels in the pre-game lobby.
With this alone we could re-create game types like Juggernaut and Infection.
I also desperately want to be able to attach scripts to a game type… so we don’t have to copy them over and save each map individually.
There was a suggestion that Forge would have a Season 2 beta. I don’t know how that ties in with any recent rumours.
AI’s in custom made maps have been possible for like 20 or 30 years.
It’ll use navmesh (which is what a lot of games use) so it would definitely take a lot of time to get working correctly I’m assuming on any Forge map, but is 100% possible in current Halo or even all the older Halos.
Real question is if it would include the enemies from Campaign or if it would just be usable for those spartan AI’s.
It takes tons of time. You have to place a navmesh over EVERYTHING (at least, everything you want the AI to go to) and assuming you are using controller I imagine it could easily take an entire day on larger maps. Its like if you had to paint everything basically, now I’m assuming the navmesh is just a triangle/square so if you make a map with simple geometry it wouldn’t take too long but a complex map (BTB or larger) would take absurd amounts of time no doubt in my mind.
Regardless, I don’t see it being as important as it was for a game like Skyrim (where I became familiar with navmeshing) because you could just make the map exclusively with no AI in mind then someone else adds it in or a friend and so on. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this creates a void where lots of Forgers don’t bother navmeshing so they ask for volunteers that do.
that would be a good way to launch community content with forge in season 3. it would make season 3 have so much new content to play
The only feature I care about is a proper terrain editor.
I don’t want to have to glue nuggets of premade terrain together and have to hide the seams.
