Something that has been bothering me in halo 4’s forge is that when you set some scenery items’ physics (items like crates, camping stools and barriers) to ‘normal’ it becomes immovable once you placed the object, lest you use a vehicle to move it.
This little problem makes it impossible to re-create some of the greatest maps (be it infection or slayer) from halo 3 and reach.
A few examples:
Sky castle
Omega Journey (1 through 4)
Left 4 Dead
Hide (that one on foundry where you run into a house and close off entrances and hide before the fatkid comes and breaks everything open)
Jenga tower
Now, this wouldn’t have been much of an issue if halo 3’s file browser was still active, and its player-base more active/higher.
I’m sure I missed a few great maps that made use of move-able crates and Jersey barriers, but this is all I can recall at the moment.
Any other forgers out there that miss this?
i was gonna make a topic on this, i miss it alot! especially gametypes like fat kid, where you had to smash through barricades and stuff to get to the next bit!
It is indeed disappointing. More scenery items would have been appreciated as well. Other than the obvious precision forging, I think normal big objects should act as normal. In halo 3, during the last days before reach, I built these mechanisms that I thought I could improve with more objects in reach but nope, physics on normal didn’t help much.
Although this is quite disappointing that some scenery blocks don’t work on normal physics, I can assure you that these mini-games can still be recreated sticking to various blocks.
I’ll just cover pallets, barricades and crates here because they are the most used to get a ‘moving’ object. (Also I might not know the exact names of blocks here)

Finally in the structure section the grid can be set to normal if you ever want a large moving piece as well as the die, golf ball and soccer ball if you ever want a cube or rolling piece. Also note that certain non-forge canvas’ or DLC maps contain a much larger number of crates then others e.g. I made a jenga map on Landfall because that map can hold up to 40 crates rather than the regular 10 crates.
Finally if you wanted to play an Omega journey map head to my fileshare because I made 1 on Erosion a while ago that takes advantage of these moving pieces.
