A few days ago I started making a map, so I spent a good 4 hours on it, and I went to save the map as “Bridge” and ended the game. A few more hours later when I tried to load the map, I couldn’t find it so it may have been deleted. I have a film of it and that’s just about all that remains. I am just felt helpless as my 4 hours of work instantly went to waste. I was wondering if a film could help with map recovery.
Now i’ll explain what happened before: When I logged on to halo 4 the “checking downloadable content” or whatever it’s called stays for a while. I remember when pressing B it stopped and the game menu was acting normal again.
Please can some one help with this, 343 especially.
What Andy said. It seems as if the map is totally lost, however I have never heard of prematurely ending a check of downloadable content. If you wish. I have a bridge map built on Forge Island I made, and if you want you can use it as a pre-created base for whatever your Bridge map was. It’s on my File Share. Feel free to modify and update it to your heart’s content.

Actually, Forge lobby keeps the previous map in cache for quick-loading. Also, I thought you could load a map from Temporary History if you loaded a film clip, played it, and immediately went to your TH and loaded the map from there.
<> Go to Halo 4
<> Go to Forge
<> Hit the “start” arrow button
<> Go to Settings and Files
<> Go to File Browser
<> Go to Map Variants
<> Go to Temp History
It should be right there, even after a day or two.
No more tears! I had the same issue and a very nice Grifball community leader showed me how…I save a TV and a controller that day, LOL!

Since you can remember your map, and that you have a saved film of it… Take some screenshots and use them as a resource!
(PS: Try to avoid magnets, use the coordinate plane)

Why? Magnets are easier for me (except for the 5x5 flat sometimes) wall coliseums I start off with then I put more objects attached to a magnet and do it to the other side and repeat.
Oh and I wont need screenshots. I know every block in my map and where it is placed.

Magnets can often lead to inconsistencies, and sometimes they can result in glitched maps as well (such as the infamous 1-degree object offset bug).

This. Even though magnets were made to help, all magnets have inlays that can affect where your block is magnetized. So, you could use the magnet, but you have to watch it and make sure it isn’t placed on one of its vertical or horizontal inlays instead of the exact place where you want it. I had this issue when I built my Castle Wars variant, and everything became uneven and lopsided. I’ve learned since then to just stick with coordinates.
> I overlay other objects over the glitches. Then I modify to fit gameplay. Magnets is a really good tool. Why use coordinates?
Because when the objects were made in Halo Reach (Certain Affinity just ported them and pasted them into Halo 4), they were created to match up with the map’s global coordinate plane.
Due to that, each object will be aligned to each other with mathematical perfection when using the Coordinates.
The Magnets do not line each object with the map’s geometry, leading to small, but lethal inconsistencies when you try to tie up all of the lose ends.

If you used the “Save” option, then check through any maps you Forged on prior to the lost map, and make sure they weren’t overwritten.
“Save as New” is completely safe, but “Save” is a veritable landmine with a tendency to overwrite the wrong file, often with another wrong file.

This, and also check the maps on other forge maps. For example: If your map was made on Impact, check to see if it’s in Erosion, Haven(yes even Haven), Forge Island, and so on. I know it sounds weird, but it happened to me.
