Spending around 20 hours in forge already I have many questions about quality of life features. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I’ll try to answer.
My first question is about color swatches/textures. Is there an option to save a swatch to use on other objects later? I know you can “select all of” but you have to select each setting every time. Is there a way to C&P swatches?
When rotating groups/prefabs is there any guaranteed way to stop the objects from blowing up and “desyncing” from the prefab. If seems like sometimes it works other times it goes crazy.
Like mentioned above about prefabs blowing up. Is there any way to delete the random un-selectable pieces that occur when a prefab blows up?
Is their a way to set all objects to the orange grid? I guess this is similar to the first question.
Is it possible to scale prefabs? I’m pretty sure the answer is no.
If you have any tips to help make forge easier for me that would be great. I’m starting to get the hang of it but it’s a little rough at first. I’ve been considering M&K over controller. I’m wondering if anyone made that jump and regrets nothing?
Swatches and textures can’t just be copied from object to object as far as I can tell. Would love for them to add an import feature to just load texture presets for objects. Until then, I’ve just been creating a palette of objects to the side of the map that I find I use a lot and duplicate from those that I’ve already set up textures/colors for.
-I am having issues just moving groups, let alone rotating them. I tried just slightly moving a 25 object group that caused pieces to completely misalign and break apart from each other. Extremely frustrating.
I have no idea about the weird, unselectable remnants of prefabs that show up, usually after previewing them in the forge menu. I’ve just been saving before viewing them and reverting to avoid losing progress.
The orange grid would just be one of the swatches you can select right? So I guess you could set that on any object that can use it and then select the default color.
-You cannot scale prefabs because you can never scale more than one object at a time.
Best advice I have for getting used to forge is to always use caution. Having played thousands of hours in H5 forge, I’m hyper aware of any debilitating bugs and issues that show up in this mode and being prepared for them and being careful is the best way to get a map to the finish line. Find issues and roadblocks and then come up with creative, outside the box thinking solutions to them, that’s what forge is all about.
