No. I will not ‘get over it’. I will never ‘get over it’. Don’t tell me what to do.
Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead 2, are before 2010 FPS games and they have more than 15K and 80K average players on Steam, contrary to Halo Infinite which is a year old game and has only 3K…
Because Steam isn’t Halo’s primary platform. Why can’t you ever understand that?
Steam has hundreds of thousands of FPS lovers, PC is THE home of FPS, and Steam is THE king of PC gaming platforms, but despite all these facts, decade+ old FPS games gather tens of thousands of players every single day, and meanwhile all these thousands refuse to touch a FREE, globally known, flagship game. It’s not even a matter of having a good PC, because other popular modern and demanding FPSs also gather tens and hundreds of thousands of players. So it’s a simple concept. Thousands of FPS lovers + refusing to touch a free flagship game, at their doorstep. Pretty easy to understand.
Here’s another simple concept. For an allegedly non “primary platform”, Steam once gathered 250K+ concurrent Halo Infinite players. Now it barely gathers 10K. Perhaps the rest 240K+ (96%+) all remembered that their primary way of playing is via an Xbox? Yeah, no. Perhaps these decreasing numbers are the normal behavior on Steam, you might think? Well, Counter-Strike once peaked at 1.3 million concurrent players (it was two years ago) and it still manages to gather almost half of them. Concerning numbers for HI to say the least, and food for thought in case there’s good will to improve it.
Since pc is involved this time around, 343 has to take extra precautions around what’s being uploaded to ensure it isn’t anything malicious. (e.g viruses and other nasty stuff)
It’s very much possible to play forge offline, just not safe. This is coming from forge lord.

Dude, you must have been under a rock 2004-2016. Like. Console gaming was huge. Or are you just like, 100% ignorant of the kinda’ numbers Halo 2, 3, Reach, and 4 pulled?
Are you just like, some out of touch boomer PC-only gamer?
You’re actually wrong about not being able to Forge Offline. You can so locally. This makes it so you’re not using Azure Network and everything is being created on your console with Local Host. When you do this the only way for people to gain access to your Forge is if they’re on the Same Router or someone for some dumb reason were to setup a Tunnel network.
Nope, I just saw the tweet from the Forge lead designer saying Forge is online only.
Not a dude, just as you are not a wolf or vixen, hot headed Carolinadog-wolf.
But thats ok, you werent to know.
But Kara no, I’m sorry but it is not.
Just happens to be what sprung to mind when someone told another member of a community they are a part of to accept less or not be catered to.
It is one facet of an arguement you cherry picked in order to side step the content and intent.
Quite literally an example of employing strawman fallacy. ![]()
And while I admittedly chose to be hyperbolic to make my case we both know quite well that you are not above the same tactics.
Please do not hold me to a standard you often wont hold yourself.
That accept the world because that is how things are logic is utter rubbish and you of all people here should have some perspective as to how and why.
Yes it is a video game.
But accepting less is accepting less and when you tell others to just accept something despite their being no good reason for them to do so, you do us all a severe disservice.
Ya we can get heated and not see eye to eye but we are all part of this fandom.
We shouldn’t encourage our peers to accept less in any facet of our lives because mindsets have a terrible habit of spilling over from one situation to another.
That brass tax is this.
Ive made entire retail games offline with larger file sizes than forge, on lesser hardware, using more taxing software(s).
People should be able to ask for forge to function locally without being told to get over it from fellow fans purely due to the fact that it is arbitrarily designed to be online.
And while yes, there are many good reasons for it to be, there is equally as many for it not to be.
The deciding factor is perspective and the perspective of the decider was not one of a fellow fan.
It was the person trying to take your money.
Solidarity among spartans, it’s a silly dream, but ill keep dreaming.
Rant over.
Meant dude in the general sense, my bad. I know damn well what I am, just some chick. But come on.
Eh. We also both know I don’t tend to use hyperbole.
Okay, seriously, come on. This has nothing to do with accepting that’s how the world is. I can and will tell you what you can do to change the way the games industry is today, and believe you me? Believe. You. Me. I want those changes to happen. But I sure as Hel can’t advocate for them on here, monitors warned me prior to get less political. So, I had to get a bit less political! But I’ll put it this way, there was a reason I was an active protestor in 2020 and have never put the axe down, so to speak.
Believe you me, I want a better world, but complaining that Forge requires an internet connection isn’t going to make a better world. You need to go higher than a complaint like that, oh so much higher and oh so much firmer.
Until then, c’est la vie, such is life, it IS a video game. I’m putting a lot more effort into…
1: Establishing a bailout fund for very poor friends of mine.
2: Trying to find steady work.
3: Doing my absolute best to help an extremely disabled person very very close to me get out of their state.
4: Stabilizing the hearts and minds of those around me who clamor for my assistance - and it is nearly daily.
5: Doing what very little someone as poor as I am can do to provide mutual aid.
Don’t guilt me for not doing enough when the topic is a video game, Moditor. I’ve got 101 issues, half of them are talkin’ folks I love away from the edge of cliffs.
Not worrying about a game I play a few times a week, okay?
I’d like to see these games, by the way. Not casting doubt, just genuinely curious. If you need to reach me directly it’s pretty easy.
It SHOULD be a thing but, it isn’t and 343i has a lot bigger stuff to topple right now. I’d like to see the future, but if I shake the magic 8 ball, it’s gonna’ say “Negative Infinity” and I already know that. It sucks but outside of other things there’s not much we can really do about it from forums.
No disagreement here, Mod. I come from the boonies - I know how awful it is when everything depends on the internet, and well, you can’t use it for… anything.
Now see we might indeed have some seriously common ground but this is sadly not the place for it to be discussed. I’d be interesting in 1-1 talks if you wanted to.
i played forge for quite a bit today went afk twice for like a hour a pop and the game was still running when i came back. playing on pc. don’t know if this is something they’ve changed or i just got lucky?
