This is going to be the 3rd edition of forge. From what I see not much has changed. I want to see big changes to forge. Here are some changes I want to see:
Terrain Editor
This is a huge deal when it comes to designing maps. No matter how much you try to change a map, feel remains the same as the original. Why can’t I place a lake in the middle of Valhalla? These changes would expand the players capabilities of creating great maps.
Texture
We know they are implementing this in some way. But it probably could still be improved on. For example. Imagine changes in High Ground. Make the top area near the base covered in snow. Textures should be able to be placed in certain locations of a map, instead of selecting an entire map with one setting.
Time of the day
How difficult could it be to allow us to change the time of day. Imagine snowbound on a starry night. Without even changing anything that would be awesome.
Movable objects
An object with a route. For example, the train on terminal.
I’m sure I missed some good features that could be added. Discuss.
I’m pretty sure that halo 4 will not have a terrain editor, and I’m they said there wouldn’t be time of day at RTX, but there’s Dynamic lighting (though not the same).

I do wonder if you can block out the sun with forge objects. You could create darkness that way.
All forge needs in order to get rid of the “every map is grey” problem is allow you to swap out any texture of any object with any other texture that is in the game.
If there was an terrain editor 343i would not get money from dlc depending on how brilliant the minds who will buy halo 4 put effort into making a map. Also if there was a terrain editor there would be no need for dlc in general.
That’s what I have been saying every since Farcry came out on Xbox. It has an awesome editor that let you change EVERYTHING. And the best part is that it is similar to how Forge saves maps. Every map is a very small file that the game assembles when loaded.

Wait, what? If this IS the case, then forge already did that. Herpy derpy. A terrain editor would give us limitless possibilties.
Forge doesn’t have a terrain editor because of technical limitations, not because of some 343 conspiracy, nor because “that’s not what Forge is”. I would honestly be pretty surprised if Halo 5 or 6 doesn’t have a full on terrain editor.

Forge isn’t a full blown map creator, so NO.
Better idea, a full blown Halo Map Creator, let Forge let you move the objects on the maps like trees and what not, and lets have the Map creator do the terrain editing.
A full blown map editor is the next big thing Halo needs.
Ever played Halo:CE on the PC? There were tons of cool custom maps and it added so much re-playability. Obviously we will not be seeing the likes of this for Halo 4, but I really hope they see how important this is and add it in a future title.
