Imagine a specialized gametype that would be available in matchmaking. There are two teams of PCs (Spartans, or Elites if they are playable) attempting to achieve X objective. On each team, one player is a monitor with full Forge functionality. Madness ensues. I really think there could be some grade-A action sack shenanigans here. What do you guys think about the concept of incorporating elements of forge into social play?
Could be a lot of fun.
The monitor would have to have some limitations. A time limit on each drop. A budget on forge points.
But could be fun as the players call in requests and the monitor has to prioritise what, where, and when.
We’ve tried a couple of similar custom games… but it just got silly as the monitors started deleting terrain etc.
Well if two teams had to build a fort for slayer or objects… if I build something my teammate could mess with it by building over or around it. They would have to make it so teammates can’t delete each other’s things.
Maybe if it was a FFA game mode where everybody started off separated and can’t look or access each other before the game starts… I guess that could work. It could be called forge wars!

Yes, absolutely, there would definitely have to be some checks & balances on the monitor, but in a general sense I always felt like some true Halo mayhem was waiting to be unlocked in institutionalized social forging, however you could craft that. Some of the most hilarious memories I have are of just messing around on forge with friends.

Dude Forge Wars, I freaking love it. You could also have an one-bomb assault game type basically where all the player characters siege a fortress that the monitor controls, or perhaps runs a maze overseen by the monitor. And IF they add AI forging, you could have a gametype where it’s basically just the Library, one monitor running a team of spartans through a series of challenges.
maybe there could be forging battle similar to minecraft build battles
like you forge stuff on a topic and people can vote
I absolutely love this idea.

Dude! Another great way way to riff on this idea. I like it a lot. Forge should be built from the ground up as a map editing tool, but once it’s implemented there’s just so much organic potential for real-time gameplay.

I could also really get behind this and agree that there is a lot of untapped potential here.
