Please remove it. I don’t Forge on Halo 4 because It’s so loud and annoyingly distracting especially when you have gaming headsets!
Also, give an option in settings to disable all ambient noise in the game.
/end rant
It’s fine
So just turn down your volume? It’s not like you need it when you’re in Forge…
I agree, they really need to change it. It’s so loud. I just mute my TV whenever I go into Forge.
> So just turn down your volume? It’s not like you need it when you’re in Forge…
That’s not a solution, I shouldn’t have to hear nothing because of one stupid sound effect.
Surely 343i must of realised that people can spend hours in forge and that hearing this pointless sound effect would annoy the living hell out of them.

But you don’t hear anything in Forge anyway. Why would they need to waste time on this when you can easily turn your volume down or just mute your tv? It’s really not that difficult…

I agree with you but I see his point what if he wants to hear the explosions in the distant of his friends mucking about in forge.
It should stay but it should be lowered in volume
I imagine a song that goes along with it when I spend hours forging.
It should be quieter or removed because it gets really annoying after a few solid hours.

surely its not difficult either for one person at 343 to turn the volume down for monitor mode in forge for everyone rather than having thousands of gamers turning their TV down every time, limiting their experience.

What? How does lowering your volume in a mode that doesn’t even require you to actually hear anything “limiting” anybody’s experience? Current grievances here appear to imply that the enjoyment of their experience is being limited by the noise in Monitor mode, thus taking 5 seconds to lower your volume would surely serve only to ‘enhance’ your experience…

What if you want to hear gunfire, or explosions, or want to make sure two objects aren’t stuck inside of each other or making that annoying grinding noise?
The Halo 4 forge monitor noise is something that you only get annoyed by after you first start to notice it. Sure, you might not notice it at all now, but if you go back on and spend time forging a map for a long time it can make you go mad. Changing it back to Halo 3/Reach where it only made a noise when you boosted around would be better than leaving it as it currently is. Having the ability to turn the noise off completely would be optimal.
What you’re suggesting is muting the entire game because of one thing being annoying or sounding bad. Just because the BR/Hammer/Magnum sound weak or dumb doesn’t mean I should have to mute everything, it doesn’t stop me from playing the game, but I sure don’t like it.
It really is pretty annoying. I agree OP.
It gives me a HUGE headache.
It also seems like it was specifically designed to drive the Forger crazy and ruin their concentrating abilities.
I wouldn’t mind a change.
But, there’s much more to worry about…
i agree with you OP it makes me wanting to mute my tv and the sound is irritating and annoying i prefer halo 3’s forge monitors sounds.
Of all things to be argued about, OP makes a post about this…
I think it’s annoying a hell. It’s not needed, nor does it contribute anything to forging.
Yes, we can turn our volume down. However as has been pointed out, what if you need/want to hear gunfire or an explosion as you are testing something? It becomes an inconvenience (however great or small) to have to lower/raise your volume. Like some games, we should at least have the option to turn down/off the monitor noise. (Same goes for music in campaign or for that matter the freakin’ game lobby music. (SO tired of hearing that) And no, I shouldn’t have to do the whole load a song to XBOX, play song on repeat turn down, then no lobby music trick to get around it.
A simple music volume shift to lower or turn off. MANY games have this feature. Why can’t Halo? So the same goes for the monitor/forge sound.
> What if you want to hear gunfire, or explosions,
And when will you be hearing gunfire and explosions in Forge outside of playing with friends? If you’re forging alone (which the vast majority of players do and have always done) then you don’t need to hear either, and if you do want to hear gunfire and explosions then you won’t be in Monitor mode anyway because you’ll be the one making them.
> or want to make sure two objects aren’t stuck inside of each other or making that annoying grinding noise?
This only happens when you place a non-phased object into a phased one. It’s a general rule of thumb that you don’t do this… Plus, the deteriorating quality of the framerate will be a very clear indication of this happening.

I’m an avid Forger, I have been since Halo 3, and I spend hours on maps barely noticing it at all. Again, you have the option to turn it off, it’s right next to where you sit…

You’ve just gone on a complete tangent here and that is not what I’m suggesting. Simply turning down your volume makes the noise quieter without having to mute it.
If a person has to lower the volume of the whole game because of one sound effect, that’s the game’s problem. Not theirs.
The ringing in previous titles was much easier to listen to. It was quiet and you could only hear it when you moved. Halo 4’s Forge Monitors have ugly sound effects that sound like an army of hornets flying by your ears that plays constantly.
> Of all things to be argued about, OP makes a post about this…
This isn’t an argument, I made this thread to express my annoyance for a feature in the game. Why people are arguing on this thread is beyond me.
All I am merely asking is that 343i make an option to toggle off the sound effect.
