Forge maps and why are there not more?

Why are there not more forge maps in M/M?

I have seen some really good ones that don’t seem to cause fps drops…specially some CTF ones I mean its like all I play and its just the same set of maps I know a lot of people wish they could find the DLC maps in M/M but I feel a way to please everyone is too add more “good” forge maps…anyone agree?

Agree 100%

More small maps like Simplex, Dispatch, Onyx and Rail. They are some of my favourite maps.

And why is there no huge Big Team custom map on Impact, Erosion or something?

I do not like dispatch :(.

But yeah there are so many good ones I have seen…I can’t say I want forge maps all over the place cough REACH COUGH but least it presents variety.

I feel 343 could really benefit from putting a bunch of forge maps in M/M.

Not all of us like the Forge made maps. Sure some are good, but people like me do not want what happened in Halo Reach to happen on Halo 4. Reach’s playlists were so diluted with Forge world maps that one day I played nothing but them for just over an hour. That was around 10-12 games straight on nothing but Forge maps. I do actually want to play on the shipped maps too. This is why I hope they keep the number of Forge maps in Halo playlists to a minimum, or at least in their own Community Forge playlist.

I like the forge maps just for variety as dlc never turns up. Forge island maps are not showing up because a lot of playersdont realise that it is free to download. I’m hoping this turkey bowl will encourage players to down load forge island

Well considering there are very few forge maps in matchmaking, I don’t think it would be to much of a problem. Ultimately forge maps are what keeps the game fresh. Currently the game is getting stale. Wouldn’t be so bad if Forge Island was forced DLC across all playlists.

Some Forge maps are fun, but I get really sick of looking at them very quickly. There is no variety in pieces, so everything looks the same. Not only does it make the map bland to look at, but it also takes a moment after spawn to reorient yourself.

In future Halo games, I’m hoping players will be allowed to texture or at least color individual pieces, like in The Sims for example.

Some Forge maps rock, like the ones that Bungie made themselves in Reach. But other ones get boring because of the monotone pallet. Halo 1 and 2 had actual level editors, maybe Microsoft could release PC software to go along with the next Halo so people could actually make their own maps. Like that would ever happen.

Some Forge maps, namely the Flood playlist ones, aren’t even functional. Why does 343i allow such broken maps in their game? Pretty lazy, and disgraceful.

This is somewhat true but there are plenty of good forge maps out there for instance way back when there was a community forge test…it contained some CTF maps that I was just thrilled to have as an addition to my fav game-type but they were never officially added and I do not understand why…it would really freshen up the maps we have in CTF…and other playlists. (I also agree that they need to make forge island required dlc as it is free.)

I never really liked forged made maps because of blandness and functionality but i never played much Halo around the times the MM hit that point but i could never really get into them in fact I remember hating a popular forge map on Reach because of fall damage and the small cube in the center where the GL spawned or the Griff ball map in H3 where the tiles don’t spawn for the first 15 seconds of the game so if your team launched a guy to get the ball and have it detonate at the goal you could lose with out a proper defensive attempt if ya missed the guy. I’m in no position to say though i never played much around those times anyway.

I think its because they’ll eventually become too similar to one another. In my opinion its lazy, allowing the community to make maps for you, as it were.

I also think that the fact that the forge maps often lag, along with a very poor framerate in split screen, is a factor in not bringing more in.

I agree, more choice/variety is always better in my opinion. Although I can understand how some find them bland.

I always think more choice is better than less, makes the game less repetitive.

This is something I too hope for to be added in future halos ^.^

On another note my biggest issue is this kind of topic has had no light shed on it in any of the halo bulletins…I just wish we would have some sort of I don’t know…answer to if this is a thing that could very well happen…or if it just a no go.

Because frame rate issues.

With the cloud service on Xbox One there is no reason that forge can’t have many, many options available for players. All the stuff doesn’t have to be on a disk or even on your HDD.

343 your not making any money off of this anyway. Just give everyone the mappack except the chamions bundle maps. no one is buying them so theres nothing to lose.

I could see it happening, but it’d probably be a Windows 8 exclusive. That’d be a massive deal-breaker for me given that I run Ubuntu and find Windows 8 to be more “flash than function”.

On-topic:

While most of the Forge Maps are much better than the all of the launch maps (except Haven, of course), the massive framerate issues in split-screen that existed in most, if not all of the Forge Maps made them less popular among the voting lists. They were ultimately played much less on than the non-forge maps.

whats up, am new to the community but have been building in forge for years, i like to make very competitive, playable and well balanced maps, from FFA to Team slayer, i have upload a bunch of maps i made in reach as well as two maps for halo 4, would really appreciate any criticism/feedback you guys have, thanks:)
