Forge looks great and all

But why won’t they just let us choose a daylight setting instead of those dumb filters?

It’s not that easy to do in the Halo engine. A day/night setting is dictated by the skybox, which is something built into the map. A skybox is not something you can just switch on the fly. Halo’s engine couldn’t do that.

at least not on the 360… the next gen, well, that will be a different story all together  maybe the different H4 forge palettes have different times of day/lighting situations (1 indoors, 1 outdoors day, 1 outdoors night)

did the devs say that or are you just talking out of your butt hole

Considering what Forge is(an object editor), it would be impossible to change the skybox like that.

No, but as someone who has tweaked with maps in the Halo engine I can tell you that it isn’t as easy as flipping a giant light switch in the sky. The skybox is really what makes a map day or night. And like I said, a skybox is apart of the map, same as the base mesh is. Now, they could make a filter with nighttime in mind that could mimic it. But as for a setting that switches skyboxes on the fly? No, that’s not possible. At least not in Halo’s engine.
