Forge Lite

The forge can be a great tool but for some it’s just too confusing and over overwhelming and they well just give up .

What if there was a cut down version with many of the options removed and set to a default setting, Less objects and basic placement 45,90,180 degrees, and if there was a section of pre-made structures then everyone could have a go at making their own maps they can be proud to say " I made that! "

Once finished they would be no different from any Forge maps, and so could be shared in the same way, it would also mean a lot more maps could be made quickly and if loaded in to the Forge later could be built upon and refined?

“Aye, sir. The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.”

What you should understand is the removal of options would make Forge harder.

Trust me on this; Forge is easier to use. You don’t have to explore all of the options. Use magnets and set rotate to 45 and even that is enough to make a simple map pretty quick. All of the options are… optional ease of life features.

It’s fine if you understand how to do it but if the options not there it’s less to think about … You learn to read and write simple books " THE CAT SAT ON THE MAT " and once you have the basic fundamental cognitive skill " The relativistic mass is always equal to the total energy (rest energy plus kinetic energy) divided by c2 "

Agreed its very complex I’ve gotten down how to move and spawn and snap things but so much isn’t described you just have to go in blind and hope you get better at the design of Forge is great but the delivery is bad, it’s like giving some one a
Who has never seen a power tool a drill and telling them to just use it.

I don’t think a cut down version would work well. Maybe including prebuilt structures and a simple control scheme option would be enough.

I’m not some uber-human mastermind.

If I can do it, you can do it. Don’t short change yourself.
