Forge is great, I love it, and I’m grateful for the priveledge I’ve been given being able to create my own video games for free. Its absolutely amazing. I am not trying to be picky, just trying to give back.
Let me preface this by saying that there should be TWO forge menus. The “Forge EZ” should basically be the way it is right now, no changes. But there should be an alternate “Forge Advanced” tab, which would incorporate a few changes, such as:
- The ability to Group objects. This could be in a tab called “Functions” ---- Group (there might be other useful functions) You would then proceed to select objects and hit a button when you are finished.
- Added decimal points when moving objects. We need this to fine tune ladders, or reduce screen tearing on objects that exist on the same plane, among other things.
- More atmosphere control. day/night/etc. The ones right now are just gimmicks. One could instead build multiple environments into forge world to switch between rather than adjusting the color after the fact.
- More budget control. (however you can make this work would be awesome)
- XYZ and Rotation indicators that pop up on an object you grab to remind you what direction is what (We have these in 3d programs): ex- http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/4382/hwdx.jpg
- Adjustable mancannon flight paths with anchor points: http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/135/mancannon.jpg
- Simple forge peices that arent infused with lights, circuitry, and glass. They can be diverse and simply textured, the key point being that the user can pick from several different simple textures. I can suggest a few: Wood, Brick, Marble, Grass, Flames, Rock, fur (leopard print), Grunge or graffiti, Solid or lightly textured colors.
- Useful items like: Trees, falcons with forward gun, passenger warthog, and dare I say it… a scarab. (come on, why not?)
- Different forge worlds (dont have to be massive): Desert, Forest, forest on fire, Snow, City, demolished city, Space (with black holes to replace kill balls), etc.
- Multiplayer Sabre battle maps/races. (in space)
- (maybe somebody needs this) An object that you can drag through a map as it actively tests framerate by changing color.
