Forge Ideas!

So there arent enough lights in forge so in halo 4, i am sugjesting that they add more lights like mabey 10 or so because all the games im in with forge, people are always saying why arent there more lights because they could have more than one base and it exspands our imagination for things plus we can make biger better things!!!

Agreed. I never understood why you could only have 2 lights on the map at any given time.

Lights can cause framerate and performance issues, especially when mixed with glassy forge objects.

Definitley. I’ve always wanted to put lights in certain spots of my map to give them different colors for callouts. But I really like having red and blue on my base so I never could.

Not just more lights, but have us start with choosing an area/place. Give us the layouts and let us choose whether it’s a night or day near a waterfall or in a desert.

I like the idea of more lights; I would like to see a “snap-to” function that allows forge pieces to click together perfectly and seamlessly so that map making is easier.

For example:

You would take a forge piece and select “snap-to” and then select the other piece and location on the other piece and then rotate the 1st piece the way you want and then the game would correct the angle and position of the 1st object, and presto! You have a perfectly aligned forge piece.

Well…why not? It would be a good idea.

I noticed in reach they took a step back with lights only allowing us to have two opposed to four in Halo 3. I would be happy with four lights or even six. I feel like lights are a really cool concept to forge and its nice to use them to identify what base belongs to what team.

They may make it slower or somthin bit thats why you dont put them in the same spot thats as stupid as puting a grid in the piller in forge world then turning it to normal for those who dont know that causes a lag like no other

My idea is to have non-realistic/interactive lights. One of the things that (and this is my guess, not a fact) makes the Reach lights cause so much lag is that they cast light on the objects around them (eg, any blocks near a red light will have a red tint to them). There certainly are times when you want this (like on a nighttime map; you don’t want a lamppost to not illuminate nearby scenery), but there are also plenty of other times when you just want a big, colored glowy orb, and don’t care whether or not it casts light (colored or otherwise) on the objects around it. This would, in theory, allow more lights to be added. This would be ideal for things like aesthetic spaceship maps, so that you could add lights to the exterior (running lights, window lights, etc). One way to do it is to have realistic lighting be a toggle for all lights, with each light costing less with the option turned off.
