Forge ideas.

I’m going to list the things that i think we need to not only get forge back to the way it was but suggest ideas that will make it better, some ideas will be some that have been suggested before, others will be new ideas ive thought of and i haven’t seen on this forum before, so here we go!

  1. Dynamic weather changes. this is so we can change what the weather is on the map, snow, rain, fog, clear, frost etc but i also think now with the xbox one we can have multiple, so during a match it can be clear and then it can start to rain part way through a match, making gameplay to change! or so its foggy to start with and then it becomes clear, even if we can only choose 2 types of weather that will change it would be amazing!
Credit to Chocobo007 for this: Or you could have zones like for spawning where it only like rains there or there’s only fog there etc!So you don’t have it inside unless you want it to!

  2. Fine tuning tool, it was in reach and i used it every time i went in forge and i’m sure others did, we need it back!

  3. Active objects, this is anything from windows that break so you can get through to doors with a button that you press and it opens! We could have gates, barriers, even cameras you put down with a screen so you can have a real control room with buttons for doors, it would change for so much and its something people have been after for ages!

  4. Missiles, okay this is an idea of mine, its an object you set, when you set it you have a timer bit like on weapons, yo set the timer to how ever long into the game and when its that far into the game or when an objective has been taken etc a missile will come down and hit the ground, this will leave a huge crater in the ground which will stay for the whole match, this means you can hide in it and use it as cover, whether they could get it to work on buildings i’m not sure.

4.5) Mines, similar to the missiles but there’s 2 types, timed and trip activated, these aren’t like the halo 3 ones, these you can see! but when you walk over them when there trip they explode, whatever side your on and they leave a huge crater, the other is a timed bit like the missile but without the missile.

  1. Rivers, i think we should either have a tool like in far cry where you push the ground down to reveal water or set river pieces you put down where you place them, they link up and you can walk through them and stuff, just adds more effect and makes maps a lot more unique and prettier.

  2. Fire and sparks, i think set pieces of fire and sparks would make maps a lot nicer, whether its a building on fire or just a bit of rubbish down a street, it would be amazing to have and create a lot more war torn effects!

  3. Roads, from seeing the perdition map from halo 4 i think roads would be a great addition, just set pieces that you can link together etc, i think it would be really nice and eye pleasing!

  4. AI, this is a bit of an on and off one because it is a big thing to put into forge but i think it may be possible but even just AI animals like Moa, they add more to the maps and more interactive items.

  5. Dead bodys, elite bodys, ODST bodys, marine bodys, grunt bodys, all kinds of bodys, if you could place them down and put weapons next to the it make it look and feel a huge battle broke out and your there carrying on in the final stages!

9.5) Dead vehicles, this is something i really really really want, its a simple but very effective thing to have, blown up scorpions, wraiths, warthogs, all sorts, if you have them down a city map you can use them for cover and to give it that real war torn effect! there could even be ones that are on fire still to give it a fresh war torn effect.

  1. Pelicans and phantoms, this is a very hot topic but i’m not necessarily talking about pilot-able ones, i’m on about stationary, ones that have crashed, ones that are landed like on rats nest and ones that are hovering, now with the hovering one i think it would be amazing if we could set it as an initial spawn point, so when you start off you spawn in that and you hold down X to get out and your person gets the weapon off your back etc and you can set where it is, its just a landed one with the legs up and the boosters on for an effect, i think for the same idea with the crashed and landed ones would be great as well, with crashed you could have a zombie map in a canyon where you start in it and you have to survive or something, but you could even make these just scenery, so doors could be a separate item which you can put on and on the setting for the phantom and pelican you can set it to initial spawn point, spawn point (during match) or object, object you cant get in or out of, it just a piece of scenery.

10.5) Drop pods, same as the pelicans and phantoms but with drop pods, ODST pods are individual spawn points but covi can be both individual or group ones depending on what you want. and same that the doors can be in items section so you can put doors on if you want or put them on the floor near to make it look like there was someone there that got out.

  1. Energy bridges, these are like the doors but there’s 2 options, one that you can turn on and off at a switch and ones which is permanently there, you can have soldier ones, so ones which aren’t wide enough for vehicles and ones which are.

  2. Walls, i think there should be brick walls like you see nowa days but when you shoot them certain bits break off, there could be different types, solid broken (broken wall which cant be destroyed), Solid full (a full unbroken wall which cant be destroyed) and the same but vulnerable which is ones that can be destroyed.

  3. Hay bales, simple but i think could be effective, there just bales of hay, rectangle ones and round ones that you can use as cover, both destructible and solid.

  4. Bushes, Simple enough, like the trees but bushes

  5. Mac cannons, These are towers with small mac cannons on, non use able or anything but nice aesthetics.

  6. Hills, these are like the rivers, either a tool where you choose how high etc or an object, different hills which are different heights and sizes that you can use.

  7. Cliffs, these are objects or tools again, object it could be a cliff but with either a grass ledge at the top so if you wanted to put grass at the top you can or just rock depending on what you want.

  8. Concrete buildings, when i say buildings i mean like on high ground with concrete bunkers and towers etc and even gates, these could add a nice feel to the map.

That’s about it for now, got any ideas comment them and i’ll add them to the list and let me know what you think of my ideas!

agree with the dead bodies and vehicles ect… because i mean for crying out loud it is suppose to be 17+ if parents dont want their kids seeing that then dont get it for them but back to one of my fav topics forge needs to be expanded!! scenery etc… Unfortunately the down side is that they most likely wont listen to anything about adding stuff into the game :frowning:

Some nice ideas here. I find the idea about hay bales a bit odd personally, but ‘hay’, the more the merrier.

I think that doors, buttons and extendable bridges would be a welcome addition especially. There’s so much you could do with them in forge. For example:

'Imagine a large map where there is a great chasm in the middle. Now there are small bridges and tunnels linking the two halves together, but they are not wide nor big enough to fit a vehicle in/on. There are however large twin light bridges that are large enough to allow vehicles to the other side.
Now, above these two bridges, on either side are twin towers, each having four entry ways; two at the bottom, two at the top. At the top of these towers is a switch/button. By pushing the button (or pulling the switch, depending on which you prefer) the player can activate and deactivate the light bridges, thus allowing for the players to have a certain control over the battlefield, i.e. allowing their own vehicles to pass, but not the enemy teams’.’

Now this is just an example of what could be done, but there’s very good forgers out there that could do a lot more potentially.

Also, if it could be implemented, I would love to see a weather like system be put in. I personally think it could be used the same way that the special effects are used, or in some cases, like a spawn zone.

For example, the forger might be making an infection map, but wants to add a bit of atmosphere to the map. There could be ‘fog’ weather effect that the forger could place down in a certain area; an area of effect sort of thing, similar to how the spawn zones are, though instead of spawning players, it produces fog/mist instead.

(And if you want to be really adventurous, allow the forger to change the tint/colour of the fog as well. Green fog for infection maps!)

Brilliant idea for a map!
I’d love to make a control center with tunnels with lock down doors, so you have one control area with screens where you can see corridors and you have control of all the doors and you need to help your team get away from the flood, above the doors will be a tiny hatch which you can blow up and then crawl through but the zombies are a little bit quicker s that tiny bit of speed could change the game if the operator doesn’t close doors at the right time and if they close them too early then the team mates will be stuck and get killed or fight out for as long as possible! There could be dead bodies and that throughout the map and bits of fire along the corridors, the aim is to get to the control room where there are guns and ammo, only way into it is from the top so the operator cant get out but there’s another corridor out of the control room which goes outside, if you get outside then there’s blown up vehicles which you can use as cover but its all foggy outside so in some ways your better inside cos of visibility but outside you have more room and more ammo etc
If we had all those things then i’d definitely make that!
I have got a feeling that they will put operational doors in this halo as we’ve been asking for it for ages!!
Another thing i’d love in it would be lights, so you can have flickering ones and stable ones and they actually light up things not just glow… so there would be flickering lights throughout the tunnel so it adds to the feeling!
I like the idea of the fog setting and that! brilliant idea, i guess even with rain you could do that, you wouldn’t want it raining indoors so you could do that and you could even do a fire alarm sprinkler system like that so at a certain time you could designate certain zones to rain to give it a fire alarm sprinkler effect inside a room!
Brilliant idea have to say!!

And i know the hay bales are a little odd idea but if you wanted to make a farm setting you could use them effectively, I’ve made a farm map before for both zombie and CTF, slayer etc and if i had that and wood barns it woulda been a really good looking map!

AND! if you had a hole in a building in the ceiling you could do it so rain goes in through there and not through the still standing bits! Love this idea!!

Thank you. I really like the sound of this flood map you’ve thought of. It’d be great for teamwork! Also, the lights idea is a must. I only hope that that this stuff will be possible in the next version of Forge now.

Also, quite right about the hay. I never thought of that. It’d be great for setting a sort of rural atmosphere for the map.

Thanks and yeah i love teamwork maps, i made a lot of maps in reach and one was a plane that had crashed and i made a game mode where a random person was the president and the attackers on the cliff has to get down and kill him and then get the special package and take it back to there base whilst others we’re defending the president, worked incredibly well! Very hard to balance, snipers on the cliff we’re always top of the board but needed a sniper there really, worked best tbh but yeah and i also made an infection map where you start in one of two pelicans, one was in the canyon in pieces and you had to get to the safe zone on the island on forge world whilst zombies we’re coming at you and the other pelican was up on the cliff to the side of the canyon and same thing but they had a bridge to go across then had to make there way down the rocks carefully whilst zombies we’re coming at you, if you just jumped down you died :stuck_out_tongue: was a very tense map but a lot of fun, both maps you would do really well at if you worked as a team

And yeah that’s what i was aiming for with the map i made but i couldn’t really do it with everything being a metal texture and green… Hay bales and wooden fences woulda made it a lot better looking

Not sure why it keeps posting quotes… anyway, yeah i think things like this could save forge for halo!

Number 9 was cool I like these ideas!

> Number 9 was cool I like these ideas!

Thanks, its something i’ve always wanted, i made a map once where a sniper was on an open ledge and i thought if i coulda put an ODST body down next to it with a pistol it would made it look so much better!

Continuation of the list.

  1. Firefigt, This is similar to AI, you have the AI but you have commands for them so you can set them to go on guard, map there path, so if there’s a gate you could have someone on top walking backwards and forwards and if you get into a certain radius of him then he will start shooting but rock and that could be exempt so it works on his field of view, if he looks over behind objects are exempt but he can see a distance past the rock etc. You can also set them to your team and get them to go to certain areas and take out certain enemy targets, from behind its with a knife, from a distance its shoot, simples.

  2. falling objects. okay this is the idea, you have structures that can be blown up, that’s one idea. but if you had objects on top of that object which can be blown up and its gets blown up those objects on top will then fall down and settle, like rocks or rubble etc, it could be a setting for all objects called settle, so you can move them (with some force) but where ever they are put they will settle but wont remain set in that position if that makes any sense…

  3. Moving objects, I’ve made a couple of map where i wanted a train, not stationary but moving and there is a way to do it but its not brilliant. so i thought why not bit like the AI an object which moves on its own where its placed on a set route or if you have a bend it reacts with the bend making it turn? not sure what the best one is for that but yeah.

  4. Weapon foam crate, this aesthetics really, but its a box with a gun inside it (you can pick up the gun) its just fancy weapon placement really, but the foam inside is set to the shape and size of the gun.

  5. different textured walls etc. Any object i’d like different textures on it except for like UNSC, covi etc items, walls, windows, floors, everything else id like different textures, from wood, to brick, to metal, to forerunner, maybe even covi and UNSC.

Thats for now, please keep posting your ideas and i’ll add them to the list!

Can I add?
How about dynamic atmosphere? Switches from day and night. Can be timed for a certain period of time. The ability to either start at night then switch to day or start at day or mid day. Or can be turned off if people just want certain atmosphere the whole time. No longer will I mix up sf effects to get a dark map.

Actual working lights: Light such as building lights, alert lights, spot lights, ect the make a glow in the map that stands out from darks. Vehicles as well

Last idea would be an elevator. It would work just like the doors and buttons. Can be placed where it will fit and still be functional. Have a choice between an open elevator like on “the storm” on Halo 3. Or closed elevators just like present day ones or a bigger version of reaches.
Thoughts?

Selectable time of day (ToD) would be pretty sweet. I’ve always wanted to be able to play on an open map in a night setting without the distortions caused by activating effects orbs

Damn that’s a long list.

I think that Forge mode should have more dedicated it to campaign IMO.

It really helps separate Halo from the run of the mill FPS, and there are many great games that are living testimony to the value of user made content.

The more freedom and creativity Forge mode allows, the more interesting and unique content being generated, the more people keep playing the game, the longer the community for that game lives.

SWITCHES

This can be for Gates, Bridges, Elevators Etc.

And they need to be able to activate and deactivate. This should be able to be done from the same switch or different switch/multiple switches.

I agree with you on many of your ideas, especially on the dead bodies. I have some ideas of my own that I would like to add.

  1. No specific item limits. I realize the console has its limits, but do not limit me to 100 of a single block. Give me something like a performance bar that tells me the framerate my map will have.

  2. Terrain editing, this would solve many of the issues people had with Halo 4’s forge. The spaces were small, the ground was uneven, and it was just difficult to build on. Look to Project Spark and Farcry for inspiration.

3)Night, day, morning, evening, and other weather effects. This would make levels less boring and more immersive.

  1. Sound zones. Similar to a death zone, except it would have a pre recorded sound in it. Maybe wind, birds, ocean, etc.

  2. New items in addition to all of the items in Halo 4.

  3. Skins for each of the items. Forerunner, UNSC, Covenant, Flood, Natural, etc.

Hi, you can add, i did actually put that in with dynamic weather already but maybe it wasnt that clear
I also had that in aswell xD But i’ll change the wording aha
Thats a really nice idea, i’ll defo add that to the list, it was in my old list but not sure how much people would want it but i’ll add it in  Thanks!

I did mean to add that into dynamic weather but i’ll use your wording as i’ll just make it complicated aha, thanks and yeah same, we need a good night map!!

  1. Brilliant idea! Would love that!!

  2. I have got that so i wont add it in

  3. I’ll defo add it in, couple of people have said it, brilliant idea!

  4. Thats a fantastic idea, never thought of that!!

  5. …of course…

  6. I think i have that aswell, if not i’ll add it in, nice idea though!

Continuation list:

  1. Day and night effects, similar to weather but it changes the time of day to make it darker, lighter etc.

  2. No specific object limits, instead an overall limit, so you can have as many of 1 item until it reaches the overall limit.

  3. Sound zones, brilliant idea from brain01648, like death zones but play a sound, you can adjust the volume on the actual zone so it could be wave noises, seagulls, gun fire, tank fire, etc

  4. Lifts, Idea from BlackPlague711, Simply a lift that have different looks and heights, so you can have it stop at the first floor, the second floor or third floor etc.

Please keep suggesting!! And even improving current suggestions!
