I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: Forge is the one thing I trust 343 with my life on.
It looks so good.
I’ve already got my first half a dozen scripts planned.
Can’t wait to try them out.
More like keep it alive, rather than save it.
It needs a lot more to be saved imho, and for some features the ship has already sailed because they made it a T-rated game like Fortnite.
They must really up their game with visual and sound effects and some game mechanics as well, because right now it feels as if I am playing a childish game and I don’t feel any battles going on in the maps. It’s as if I’m playing Lego Halo, except without Lego Spartans but realistic ones. No impactful explosions, lame non-lasting special effects, non-lasting dead bodies, tiny bullet decals that disappear within 2 seconds and before you notice any of them, announcers with kid voices, no blood, no blood pools (with no hope of having any in a T-rated game), no player collisions, lame vehicles that have many shortcomings and disabilities etc. etc. etc. It needn’t be this way, it’s a shame.
Shame, because the graphics are good. Maybe if we get a ton of new maps via Forge, we can at least feed ourselves with some nostalgia, but I doubt it can fix all of the above if they aren’t part of the game’s core…
I’ve been waiting for someone to make a post about this all day… Not a good sign it took so long… (thanks though D!)
Watching these last two videos makes me think Infinite should have been delayed until this was ready.
And that’s me eating my old words. I used to be in the “launch it now, it’s good enough” camp last year after the flights…
I have a really cool idea for a map, and it’s been years since I’ve been excited about forge
Nah. I just watched the Forge Fundamental video again. It has the potential to do more than that.
And over breakfast I watched a video of someone who recreated the bedroom from Toy Story.
It was amazing.
To save Infinite we need more content, an XP based rank, and a fix to desync.
That’s the Holy Grail.
Forge will bring more content. The XP rank is coming. Which means as we head into Season 3 it’s only Desync standing in the way of a comeback.
I did get there 5 hours ago! - pretty much as I woke up.
I wouldn’t expect the Scripting video to be as big a hit with the general populace - but hopefully it will gain traction when people realise who user friendly it will be (as opposed to H5).
And Tuesday is weird time for a video release.
I only tinkered with a couple of maps in H5. They sucked. ![]()
And while I’m more interested in the scripting - I’m definitely going to be having another go. I want to do a map built into the side of a cliff - and another one racing Mongeese around the edge of a Volcano crater.
But can you add your own special effects, player collisions, blood etc. with Forge in the maps?
I just want to see Infinite Forge become so customizable that it becomes essentially Minecraft/Roblox but looks amazing and have tons of sandbox tools.
Sure it’s evolved beyond Halo at that point, but it’s the best part of the Halo community being realised.
I couldn’t agree further. All we need is playable races and place able banished and this halo will have the potential to be the best one yet
Custom invasion maps.
Custom campaigns and FF
insane parkour maps using abilities. Heck WHAT ABOUT A SPIDERMAN MODE
You know how corporate types are. “Money now, money NOW!”
I still hope they gradually improve bots over time has they make new content for this game. Improved AI could have many benefits if it keeps getting better and better.
