Forge - First impressions?

Forge is here and Wooow, what a forge it is. If I can stop my Son from knocking Olive off the edge of the map I might be able to give it a try. But first impressions look good! What’s everyone else’s?

It’s WAY too complicated for me … which is a good thing. I can’t wait to see what people come up with.

You should probably wait on this, a lot of people seem too frustrated with the controls to get into the meat of the feature set.

“What the -Yoink- am i doing” “Why the -Yoink- can i not move this thing” “-Yoink- -Yoink- -Yoink-”

Quite good though it’s way too complicated (good thing) for me. Pro Forgers are going to go crazy with this thing though. Someone please make a Blood Gulch remake/

You can Forge outside of some of the Arena maps like Empire, and you have all the objects including terrain and vehicles. It’s awesome!

I have almost learned the controls. I have to thank the elite controller for that though.

There are so may new things for me to try. I think that’s awesome.

I rage quit Forge, I’ve never been so frustrated in A video game. I want the old controls back. Now time to battle on Noctus.

Definitely an improvement over H4, but we need a file share like we did in reach. Is there any way to get new maps besides going to a players file share? And also, why no warzone REQ? I was looking forward to using REQs I don’t currently have.

It’s probably the most dumbed down of content, size of any Halo forge that I’ve ever seen in any Halo game. It’s somehow worse than Halo 4.I’ve used development kits less messy than this attempt at Forge.

I’m not a forger so I can’t really say… it feels a bit odd maybe? Let’s see what the forge community will do with it

I just quit, I couldn’t even make something simple like a squire with multiple objects. (almost took me 45 min.)
The new controls are just bad and the rotational snap is broken.
The only thing I managed was to place a crane.
I used made maps similar to boneyard in halo 4 and Reach but I can’t do anything now.
I’m really disappointed.

Guess I’ll have to buy gold again if I want to play forge

So many cry babies took me like 30 mins to get used to the controls. And my god my mind is blown theres so many options idk how to start

Over all they have made some great changes to forge it’ll just take me some time to get used to the new controls. I have noticed that there aren’t any premade structures such as bases and i also miss forge world since the new forge canvases seem a bit to small in my opinion, i have no doubt though that 343 will continue to update it.

Or you are not used to it yet? Sheesh what aversion to learning new stuff this community has.

Not a fan, I spent most of my time since the update was launched playing about and learning the controls. Once you learn them it isn’t too bad but I just think its unfriendly and you can’t really mess around like you used to like throwing things about. I also find that it is pretty slow compared to old forge because although you have nice grouping tools it takes longer to place things in general. The next problem is just my preference but I have noticed that even though there is 1700+ objects the majority of them are plane flat objects in a variety of sizes which is good for building maps but not for building fun mess about things. I personally play forge as a building game not to use the maps after and in this version I cannot to that and enjoy it so sadly its a huge let down for me.

But the fog, skybox and lighting effects are nice.

I plan to. I remade blood gulch in halo 4.

Loved Halo Reach forge so I was stoked for this… Its early to really judge it but after learning the controls the complaints aren’t unjustified. Once you learn them it’s not that they’re difficult, they’re just inconvienet. Not a deal breaker but definitely a nuisance and a little illogical (like whose bright idea was it make A down and B up :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:). My only other qualm is that it seems there’s not distinct large objects to build around like in Reach (ex. Platform XL, Dish, Walkway Large). I understand eliminating pre-made buildings but the lack of large unique structures to use as anchors requires an unnecessary amount of extra effort to make high traffic areas on your map not look extremely bland and dry. (Big blocks on little blocks and triangles).Theres TONS of pieces but they seem like all the potatoes but there’s no meat. But realistically I’m probably being a little picky because I enjoy forge so much. On a positive note thank god they don’t generate lighting every time anymore!! But we’ll see how things turn out in the next couple of days. Right now hating my first map (but that’s user error not forges fault! Haha)

Dumbed down? Are you… Are you retarded?
