Forge Feedback Suggestion: Zero Lightbake Option

When I load some of my maps I love what they look like, but then when I bake the light the lighting is really glitchy. It would be great to have the option to have some maps have no light bake at all, so that they look exactly like they do before baking the lights. This map I’m working on is beautiful before I bake lights, basically ruined when it’s actually loaded up into a custom. The lighting that would be required to fix it will cause other issues, like framerate.

Couldn’t find a Forge specific area in the forums, so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I would just keep it on the larger objects, like if there were a building keep it on the main peace of that. Otherwise I agree, it would be a helpful feature.

You can go in and turn off the light bake for everything in Forge.

Can you? hu… guess I didn’t play around with it enough… nvm op, lol

This is actually a very popular idea among the Forging community. Having everything look exactly as it does when you initially load into a map, before baking lighting, is a great idea. Some maps look amazing and don’t have the issues they do after baking lighting. AND NO PLACING EVERY OBJECT’S LIGHT BAKE TO ‘OFF’ IS NOT THE SOLUTION TO THIS, NOR IS IT THE QUESTION BEING ASKED.

That’s not what’s being discussed here. When you first load a map, everything looks pastel. Some people prefer this look. Even with light bake set to off, it won’t look as it does when you first load a Forge map.

As in, when you first load a map in Forge without baking the lights yet?

Yep. When Forge first came out, I tried what you said, turning light bake to off on everything, with my first map completion. It didn’t work :frowning: I wish it did though. It’s the logical solution. When you first load up the map in Forge, sometimes it’s just perfect.

Yes, it doesn’t matter if you turn light bake to on or off, you will still get pieces that are not the same color, and it can ruin the aesthetics of a map. I did get a suggestion to shine lights onto the areas where the pieces aren’t the same color, and that helped some, but it did not fix all of the areas that weren’t matching. Seriously, it looks absolutely beautiful before light bake, just perfect. Everything is smooth and uniform. I just really wish we had that option.

Edit: Also, it’s taken an insane amount of lights to fix the issue on this map, and I really could’ve used those items as I’ve reached the 1600 limit. It’s a Vortex remake from Halo 4, and I would’ve loved to have gotten more of the structures up in the background, but I ran out of pieces.
