Hello Community/ 343, I love all of you! This topic is mainly presented to express my favorite things of what I’ve seen of the new Forge Mode, All of you may comment with ease and tell me if you like it or not!!
Alright Things that are in/are not in:
Weather - Out (NEEDS TO BE IN!!)
Day to Night - In
Texture Changing - Not Sure
Area Modifiers - In
Zero G - In
Objects that Fit the Environment - In
Magnet Snap - In
Duplicate - In
$1,000,000 Budget - In
I’m almost Positive there are ALOT more features, and this is just a taste of what we’ve seen, so we’ll need to wait.
My Thoughts: I love all the in features all though it would REALLY kill me if they did not have Weather as in:
Rain, Hail, Thunder Storms
Snow, Blizzard
It bugs me the most because I, along with friends of my could easily mod Weather into Halo Reach, Forge World could have Snow, and Rain easily, we’ve unlocked texture Changing features in game too, sadly you need a Dev Kit or a JTAG to do this, so I’ll stop talking about modding now, but my point is, its entirely possible and they are not implementing it, Which really bugs me, and Texture Changing is kinda a must as well cause what if we need a Forerunner Tower instead of a human base camp for like a Machinima or an Interesting Map? Eitherway, I’m absolutely loving what I’m seeing and seeing that all the objects that were in that map were imported from all of Reach’s maps and they haven’t actually added any of the REAL stuff yet I can still say were totally not ready… naw… we TOTALLY FREAKING ARE!!! XD So Excited! Anyway throw your guys/girls input my way!
When i saw that demonstration near the end, it made me wonder why they couldn’t make the zone thing have no fall damage. they showed invulnerability, but that would ruin certain gametypes.
I believe a weather system would be fantastic, especially for machinima…you just dont get those scenes like with New Alexandria where everything is raining and the mood is dismal, dark, intense, in Forge.
But put in weather, and there you go, it’s there.
Want a snow level? I know I sure -Yoinking!- do! Halo 3’s Avalanche literally CALLS to me!
I loved Avalanche, such a perfect balance of a snowy, large map with snow camouflaged vehicles and two large base fronts (granted, the bases could have been deeper in the mountain, but meh. Aesthetics.
And how about something fall based? or burnt and dying?
OR GLASSED!? the possibilities are there, we just have to tell 343i how badly we want and need them.

All the stuff they showed was just a sample of what new forge offers, We will see more eventully. and some people where worried that Halo 4 would never have forge.
and wit the improvments, it looks like I’ll be making that Giant spider without a doubt. XD
I’d be happy with something like FX from Halo 3 and Reach forge. Something that makes the map really bright and something that makes it look like night. That’d be fine.

I have yet so see a map that actually takes advantage of the different FX modes. Other than Zombie maps, of course. I think weather effects would be more useful and, most important, more used.
I’d like to see weather effects come to Forge- as an update. It isn’t coming as part of launch, so maybe if another holler about it long enough, maybe 343 will add it as an update.
Or maybe the 360 just can’t handle anymore and they had to leave weather effects out for just that reason.

I don’t know too much about how a game works but, wouldn’t that be putting too much stress of the engine or something?
I would love to be able to change weather, but the game already has a lot of content. 343i has to consider the freespace they have to work with and try to make the best out of it. I’m pretty sure if they could, they would add alot more.
But if Halo 5 is on the next-gen XBOX, we will be able to have more content.
@swordsman423: I am not to sure that is the reason. Farcry 2 is a very old game on the 360 yet it has many features even weather changes. And also is more of a map editor then having multiple maps you would be forced to “forge” on.

I’ve actually played some maps that use the ‘juicy’ filter, but yeah, not much else.
